HVO is chemically simpler than biodiesel – it contains no oxygen in its structure, which makes it significantly more stable.
Unlike biodiesel, HVO does not absorb moisture, which reduces the risk of microbial growth in fuel systems and supports a longer shelf life.
HVO also performs more reliably in cold conditions, remaining stable at temperatures as low as -32°C, whereas biodiesel can begin to gel at temperatures as mild as -5°C, depending on the raw material used to produce it.
