A big congratulations to Harry, who has now completed his Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship!

Throughout his apprenticeship, Harry has developed practical welding skills alongside a strong understanding of technical drawings, welding procedures, quality standards and safe working practices.

For Grenville, supporting apprenticeships is an important part of developing skilled welders for the future and strengthening the expertise within our team.

Well done, Harry. A great achievement and thoroughly deserved!

Grinding and finishing may come towards the end of production, but they play an important part in the quality of the finished component.

Our finishing capability combines dedicated machinery with the hands-on expertise of our skilled team. Where a manual approach is required, they use angle grinders and specialist sanding pads to carefully refine welds, edges and surfaces.

The results are in, and the response was unanimous. 💯

✅Consistent quality received 100% of the votes in our poll about what matters most when choosing a fabrication partner.

For buyers and engineers, consistency means knowing that every batch will meet the required standard, fit correctly and arrive ready for the next stage of production.

At Grenville, quality is considered throughout the complete manufacturing process, supported by our experienced team, in-process checks and ISO 9001 quality management system.

We are proud to have many longstanding customer partnerships, some spanning 40 years. That trust has been built through consistent quality, reliable service and a clear understanding of our customers’ requirements.

Every finished component has skilled people behind it.

We’re proud to have so many experienced team members who have built long careers with Grenville. Their knowledge has developed over many years on the shop floor, working with different materials, processes and customer requirements.

That experience helps our team interpret drawings, identify potential issues and make practical decisions throughout production. It also allows knowledge to be shared with the next generation joining the business.

Technology plays an important role in modern manufacturing, but it is the skill and judgement of the people using it that turns a design into a consistently manufactured component.

A quick look at a few of the components moving through the Grenville shop floor this week.

From laser cutting and forming through to welding and finishing, each component follows its own manufacturing route before being prepared for delivery to the customer.

A good snapshot of the different processes, skills and teamwork involved across our factory.

Small details can have a significant effect on the finished fabrication.

A consistent bend, accurate hole position or carefully controlled weld can influence how easily a component fits, assembles and performs in service.

These are the details our team considers throughout production, not just during final inspection.

When you're sourcing laser cut parts, how much difference does the laser itself actually make?

It's not just about how quickly it can cut or the thickness of material it can handle.

For many fabricated components, laser cutting is the first stage of manufacture, so the accuracy and edge quality achieved here can influence everything that follows, from bending and machining to welding and assembly.

In our latest blog, we take a closer look at our 12kW TRUMPF fibre laser and, more importantly, what the capability means for customers. We cover thick plate cutting, speed, edge quality and how laser cutting fits into the wider fabrication process from prototype to production.

If you specify or buy fabricated components, it's worth a read 👇
