Match Report
Bedwas FC 4–0 Llanyrafon AFC
Llanfabon Drive
Bedwas FC welcomed Llanyrafon AFC to Llanfabon Drive today for what turned out to be a powerful and emotional afternoon of football.
Before kick-off, both teams and supporters observed a minute’s silence, showing solidarity and support for two Bedwas players who have recently lost a very important family member. A huge thank you to everyone in attendance, and to Llanyrafon AFC, for joining in this respectful moment.
From the first whistle, the lads were well up for the challenge, moving the ball with confidence and intent. It took just two minutes for the deadlock to be broken. Jaden Richards stepped up over a free kick and produced a moment of pure quality—left foot, top bins. No stopping it.
1–0 Bedwas FC.
Bedwas continued to dominate proceedings, playing some excellent football. Debutants Jorge and Izaac brought plenty of flair to Llanfabon Drive, while Dan, JJ, Jaden and Bickham controlled the midfield with authority. Captain Jake Mac led from the front, holding the ball up brilliantly, and the back line of Lurch, Luke and Irish stood firm like a brick wall. Behind them, Big Jim was in fine form between the sticks, pulling off a number of impressive saves.
Just before half-time, Bedwas doubled their advantage. A corner was delivered into the box, Big Lurch flicked it on, and Luke Horwood was perfectly placed to slot home. A deserved 2–0 lead at the break.
Following an inspirational team talk from Sheep, the lads returned for the second half fully focused on the job at hand. A change was made at half-time, with Big Lurch making way for Mowser.
Despite the pitch not being at its best, Bedwas dug deep and continued to push for a third goal. It arrived in the 65th minute—JJ with a brilliant assist, and Jorge Rees showing great composure to coolly finish on his debut.
3–0 Bedwas FC.
And it got even better. Captain Jake Mac turned provider, setting up Mowser to make it 4–0 with a well-taken finish.
Further changes followed: Irish was replaced by Lewis, who ran his legs off and even showed some skills that would make Messi proud. Jorge then made way for young gun Kaylum, who wasted no time getting involved. The silky 17-year-old tormented the Llanyrafon right-back for the final 15 minutes. In the closing stages, coach Dan came on for JJ to see the game out.
The final whistle confirmed a superb 4–0 victory for Bedwas FC.
What a game. What a performance. Immense pride in every single player, the staff, and everyone involved with the club.
All back to Clwb Ruperra afterwards for some well-deserved food and drinks—thanks for the hospitality, lads.
