Yesterday, we held a darts tournament in support of Llamau, an incredible charity that supports homeless young people, women and families across Wales, helping them to build brighter and safer futures.

It was a lively, interactive tournament that kicked off with a game called Demolition, setting a spirited tone for the 70 players taking part. After some brilliant competition, Dragon HVAC came out on top (pictured below in pink t-shirts), with Morgan Sindall finishing a close second (pictured below with Tiny Rebel Beers).

We would like to say a huge thank you to Flight Club Cardiff for being so welcoming and accommodating throughout. The event would also not have been possible without the generous match funding provided by Lloyds Bank, and we would also like to thank Tiny Rebel for their prize donations, which helped make the day even more special, especially for our winners.

Thanks to the amazing effort of everyone involved, we are proud to say that we raised over £6,000 for this fantastic cause.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who gave up their time and energy to help make the event such a success. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, truly makes a difference. Thanks to SS, Dragon HVAC Ltd, EEL/CMC, Lloyds Bank , MEC TECH CORPORATION LTD, Morgan Sindall Construction, Nuaire, Protectorcomms Ltd, Rexel and Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar who all entered teams.

If you would like to donate, please see our JustGiving link below.

Yesterday, in order to raise awareness and funds for Coeliac UK during Coeliac Awareness Month, we held a gluten-free cake tasting in the office.

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where eating gluten causes the body to attack itself, damaging the gut and making it difficult to absorb nutrients properly. Something as simple as going out for lunch, grabbing a snack or eating at social events can become stressful as even small amounts of gluten can make someone seriously unwell.

Awareness and support can make a huge difference for people living with the condition, including Amelie, one of our team members who shared the following when asked about her experience living with coeliac disease:

“I was diagnosed with coeliac disease when I was 17 and even years later I am still learning new ways it affects my everyday life. You constantly have to be aware of foods you would never normally think twice about eating.

There is also a lot of stigma around the disease, with many people thinking it is just a fad or trend, when in reality it is a serious autoimmune condition that affects your whole body not just an ‘upset stomach’. Even the difference in the price of food can be a huge adjustment to get used to.

I would highly recommend visiting the Coeliac UK website to learn more about the condition, because I’m sure almost everyone knows a friend, relative or colleague living with coeliac disease or something similar.”

Thank you to everyone who took part in the gluten-free cake tasting and helped support Coeliac Awareness Month. By raising awareness, educating ourselves and showing support, we can help make everyday life a little easier and more inclusive for those living with coeliac disease.

Youth last game of the season 👏🏼🔵⚫️

We welcome St Albans to Stars Garage Riverside Park for our final game of the season.

An U16/U17s fixture that will give some players a great insight into Youth Rugby ahead of next season 🏉

The boys have worked hard this year to bring Youth Rugby back to Rumney RFC, and it’s brilliant to see games like this helping build towards next season.

Thank you to our Match day sponsor - VoltSecure. 🫡

Good luck boys 👏🏼🔵⚫️

At Whitehead, we’re proud to be a long-running supporter of the Lighthouse Charity and the incredible work they do to support the wellbeing of those in the construction industry.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and it’s an important reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

Construction can be a demanding industry, and no one should feel like they have to struggle alone. Starting a conversation, checking in with a colleague or reaching out for support can make a real difference.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available through the Lighthouse Charity 24/7.

Let’s continue to look out for one another and help break the stigma around mental health.

Whitehead Building Services - Maintenance Team

A huge congratulations to Emma Parslow as she reaches an incredible milestone in her career 👏

Emma is now at her final stages of her Mechanical Apprenticeship. On top of this, she has recently secured Domestic Gas Qualifications, following an intensive programme alongside her existing college commitments.

This demonstrates not only her technical capability, but also her determination, resilience and commitment to professional development.

Throughout the journey, Emma has been supported by an excellent team. A special mention goes to her supervisor, Gavin Hall, and Mechanical Engineer, Jack Vickery, whose guidance, mentorship, and hands-on training have played a key role in her progression.

Emma is pictured with Operations Manager Andrew Davies who commented: “Emma should be incredibly proud of what she has achieved through her hard work, and for maintaining such a positive attitude throughout. She has built a strong foundation for an exciting career ahead and has been encouraged to take the time to enjoy this well-earned moment. This is a great example of how structured apprenticeships, combined with strong mentorship, can develop the next generation of skilled engineers within the building services industry"

Well, done Emma — a brilliant achievement and an exciting future ahead.

Last week, Jack and Iolo represented Whitehead at the Careers Wales Newport Cluster event held at Newport High. They engaged with students by sharing their knowledge and experience of working at Whitehead, giving them an insight into the company and the opportunities available. As part of the event, students took part in practical activities including wiring plugs and a plumbing exercise. Events like these are a great way for young people to gain hands-on experience in different fields and consider potential career paths
