🏅 Congratulations to the RNLI National Collection of Historic Lifeboats at Chatham Historic Dockyard on receiving an IMechE Engineering Heritage Award.

The award recognises the collection's outstanding contribution to engineering heritage, showcasing more than 200 years of lifesaving innovation and the evolution of lifeboat design and technology.

Unlike most Heritage Awards, which recognise individual artefacts, this award celebrates the entire collection and its role in telling the story of engineering innovation for the public good.

Congratulations to the RNLI and everyone involved in preserving this remarkable piece of engineering history.

Celebrating our volunteers ✨

Meet Matthew Prosser CEng, IMechE Railway Division Board Member and incoming Railway Division Chair.

Matthew is Asset Management Director at Angel Trains. As a volunteer, he helps shape Railway Division activities, supports member engagement and promotes knowledge sharing across the sector.

Matthew first got involved with IMechE nearly 20 years ago after attending Railway Division lectures and wanting to help shape the programme. What started with his local Railway Division centre has grown into a long-standing commitment to supporting members and sharing engineering knowledge across the rail industry.

"The great thing about volunteering is the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things. The Railway Division Board includes some of the most knowledgeable and experienced engineers in the industry, and being able to tap into that knowledge is a fantastic privilege."

Looking ahead, Matthew is excited about the future of engineering and the role rail will continue to play in delivering sustainable transport solutions 🚆

Thank you, Matthew, for your dedication to the Railway Division and the wider engineering community.
