🏆 The Vickers Vimy G-EAOU has been awarded an IMechE Engineering Heritage Award for its innovative design and historic flight from England to Australia in 1919.

The aircraft helped demonstrate the possibilities of long-distance air travel, completing the journey in less than 28 days and making aviation history.

Today, more than 100 years later, the Vimy continues to inspire visitors at Adelaide Airport, where its remarkable story is being preserved for future generations.

Engineering that makes a real difference 🦿

Students from Imperial College London have developed a rotating prosthetic adapter to help amputees sit cross-legged, pray, drive and manage everyday activities.

Supported by a £500 IMechE grant, the team designed and tested prototypes in Cambodia, receiving positive feedback from prosthetists.

The team is now refining the design and looking at how it could be manufactured at scale.
