Three days in the saddle, and a whopping £41,000 for charity! 💸

Yes you read that right, £41,000 raised! From mountain climbs to unexpected downpours, our Even Bigger Bike Ride team pushed through every challenge and together, more than doubled our £20,000 target, making this our most successful bike ride to date.

A huge thank you to everyone who rode, sponsored and supported this year’s ride. Every engagement, every donation, every contribution, big or small, has made a difference.

We’ve completed a 21-week junction improvement scheme for Walsh Mushrooms Group in Pinvin, Worcestershire. 🍄

The project has provided access to the group’s state-of-the-art mushroom processing plant, with works ranging from carriageway widening and a new site entrance, to drainage, utility connections, street lighting and an adjoining cycleway.

It wasn't without its challenges, with restricted road widths and a requirement to maintain two-way traffic throughout, careful coordination was essential. However, by working proactively with Worcestershire County Council and scheduling key activities around weekend and night-time closures, we minimised disruption to road users and neighbouring properties.

Well done to everyone involved in bringing this project to completion!

Yesterday, alongside 350 other attendees, we celebrated the launch of ElectroWay at Magna Park, one of the UK’s first large-scale HGV electric charging facilities.⚡

The day featured a time capsule ceremony with pupils from the local school, a ribbon cutting and speeches from project partners.

Working on behalf of Keoma Energy, our team delivered the civil engineering and infrastructure works behind this 23-hectare development.

The state-of-the-art facility offers 180 secure truck parking bays, 32 high-power chargers and a dedicated driver amenities hub, built for the people powering electric freight. It’s a significant milestone for the UK’s logistics infrastructure, supporting the transition to electric HGVs and more sustainable transport.

We’re proud to have been part of it. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project to completion.

It can’t always be the Spanish mountains, someone has to hold it down in the Midlands.

With the O'Brien team now back on Midlands soil, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the projects we've worked on across the region over the years.

From restoring the historic Chesterfield Canal to supporting the development of major infrastructure in Fairham, multiple contracts in West Longbridge and a new training ground for Premier League side, Aston Villa, the team has worked across a wide range of schemes, showcasing our skills on a variety of civil engineering, construction, and sports projects across the Midlands.

Take a look at some of the projects we’ve been part of.

A staple in the O'Brien calendar, we're back supporting Constructing Excellence Midlands, this time sponsoring the G4C Awards, aka, the Generation 4 Change Awards 🏆

As proud champions of youth construction careers ourselves, supporting awards that celebrate our sector's young people and those shaping them was a no brainer. We're proudly sponsoring the "New Professional of the Year" award - an excellent opportunity to highlight all the career starters and shakers in the Midlands - good luck to all those shortlisted!

See you on the 15th October 🥂

Three days. 300 miles. One final push to the finish.🏁

For the final day, the team took on a huge 114 mile stretch. It was a long and exposed day on the road, finishing with one final climb to Madrid.

It’s been a huge challenge, but an even bigger achievement, with the team pushing through every climb, mile and tired leg to raise money for a great cause.👏

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the ride, donated, sent messages and followed the team’s journey. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Madrid is in sight!

The final day is well underway, and the team are powering through the last leg of the ride. After two huge days in the saddle, there’s still some road and maybe (definitely) some hills to tackle before they reach the finish line in Madrid. 🚵

The legs might be feeling it but there's no stopping them now. You’re nearly there team - just think of the well-earned cold b**r waiting for you!

Day two done! 🚴

Another big day in the saddle. putting legs, lungs and teamwork to the test once again - the team completed the 118 (yes, 118!) mile stretch from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Burgos, making their way through more of the Spanish countryside.

The finish line is getting closer, but there’s still one final day to go. Time to eat, rest and get those legs ready for the final push! 🏁

Before the sun was up this morning, Team O’Brien was already back in the saddle, ready to take on day two.

After conquering a tough climb, they’ve now reached the 50-mile checkpoint, which offered a well-deserved pit stop to refuel before tackling the next stretch.

The good news? We're just over £1,000 away from hitting our £10k fundraising target!

Please donate if you can and help to push the team over the line: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/obrien2026bikeride

A huge effort so far, Team O'Brien! Keep pedalling, keep pushing up those hills and keep smashing it...💪
