This we're turning our attention to sustainability in construction...

According to RIBA* 38% of global, energy-related greenhouse gas emissions are produced by the construction and operation of buildings.

However, the tool we need to improve sustainability in construction is already here: BIM.

It's fascinating to see how AI is changing our industry. This article from Construction Management magazine discusses current research at the University of East London that's assessing how multiple project technologies could be linked together by AI to provide immediate replanning advice.

This is particularly exciting for clash detection - it suggests that as soon as we flag a potential conflict, this could trigger the AI-enabled project management technology to immediately assess the impact and translate it into rescheduling options for the human managers to review and approve.

Lead author, Dr Jawed Qureshi, explains the benefits this approach would bring:
“At the moment, we manage projects like we drive while looking in the rear‑view mirror. This approach creates a forward‑looking process where risk detection and planning become one continuous activity.”
