Thank you to the team at Masanga Hospital in Sierra Leone for their message upon receiving their Diamedica Glostavent Helix DUO Anaesthesia Machine 👏

“We want to thank you LOADS for this great new addition to our team. We’re going to unpack, install and gradually implement it into our daily practice.”

Masanga is a 120-bed rural hospital that will benefit greatly from the new anaesthesia machine, with built-in oxygen generation and multiple backup options should power fail.

Thank you Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide - SAWW for selecting the Diamedica Baby CPAP. It’s rewarding to see it making a positive impact in Nepal👏💚

Thank you to everyone who supported our appeal for Nepal. CPAP equipment donated by SAWW to Chaurjahari Hospital, a remote rural hospital, was used to save the lives of pre-term twins born at 35 weeks gestation with respiratory distress.

"Our facility successfully managed the delivery and neonatal care of twin infants born at 35 weeks gestation, weighing 1900g and 2200g respectively. Both neonates presented with respiratory distress post-delivery, necessitating the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) support. Additionally, one infant required phototherapy for the management of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Following a one-week course of treatment, both infants were discharged in stable condition. The availability of CPAP technology continues to be a critical factor in our ability to provide life-saving care and expand our capacity for preterm admissions."

Good to see the delivery of Diamedica DPA (portable anaesthesia machines) to two hospitals in Cameroon; Mbanga District Hospital and Nwken District Hospital.

Both previously lacked functional anaesthesia machines. The impact of this new resource will be significant, as patients will no longer need to be transferred to Douala, resulting in improved patient care.

News Update from Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide. So far this year, SAWW has donated anaesthesia equipment to hospitals in Cameroon, Nepal and Uganda. Read about our latest news here: https://mailchi.mp/e26a29d450e2/update-april-19882112

Today is Kangaroo Care Awareness Day 💛

Did you know that skin-to-skin contact can help newborns regulate their temperature, improve breathing, and strengthen bonding? It can make a profound difference to a newborn’s survival and development.

For babies who need extra respiratory support, equipment such as the Diamedica Baby CPAP can make a huge difference. When you combine hands-on care with the right medical support, you give vulnerable neonates the best chance to breathe, grow, and thrive.
