For offshore scopes, recovery is only part of the challenge. The next step is efficient onshore processing and disposal - one of the specialist services delivered through our Peterhead Energy Service Base.

Equipped to unload, cut and sort recovered flexibles, with dedicated operational and waste management areas, PESB provides a single location for decom, O&M and cable replacement or repair activities. Every operation is planned and overseen by our expert Project Management & Engineering teams and supported by a trusted local supply chain - built through more than 25 years operating from Peterhead.

If you are planning a North Sea SURF installation or retrieval campaign and want to protect your schedule and budget, speak to PESB Managing Director Dave Gardiner.

Deepwater decommissioning comes with a familiar challenge: the vessels that installed the long lengths of flexibles are among the most specialised - and the most expensive. That is why adapting alternative, readily-available vessels for the retrieval scopes can progress SURF cost-efficiently and at pace.

Using our most capable portable handling technology on the market, MDL Integrated Project Services can temporarily convert local tonnage to carry out safe flexibles' recovery even from deep waters - particularly with the likes of our Wheeled Horizontal Lay System (WHLS), designed to overcome the capstan effect which significantly reduces the pulling capacity of market-standard equipment.

This approach offers two-pronged decarbonisation benefits: enabling retrieval of disused infrastructure from the seabed while using local vessels - reducing fuel burn.

Here's the case study that breaks it all down: https://loom.ly/GHWfe3E

No two decommissioning scopes look the same, meaning there are no "off-the-shelf" solutions. So, how do you keep the costs low for these end-of-life projects that require a personalised approach?
With our engineering-led packages designed for efficient offshore recovery - our this .

Portable and modular handling systems allow recovery spreads to be configured around the project requirements, vessel availability and operational objectives - and with MDL technology there are no compromises on safety of ex*****on, which is a top priority when the condition of the product you're retrieving is unknown due to the time it spent subsea.

Looking at optimised cable handling across the wider North Sea - whether supporting new developments or O&M activities - our portable systems are proven across a range of on and offshore scopes.

Pictured here on cable lay campaigns offshore Norway and Denmark, our 2-track tensioners have been deployed alongside other assets from our modular fleet, including the MDL Generation 1 RDS, to create fast and reliable packages - which you can read more on here: https://loom.ly/1Gc6ADg

A case in point of the MDL Gen 3 Reel Drive System's compact design unlocking a vessel's potential was this Norwegian project, where the operator challenged our client to fit 4 reels on deck in order to reduce the number of port-calls and the overall campaign length. This was a repeat scope in the NCS field, which was previously executed with only 2 reels per trip; but our engineering experts were put to task to make the more efficient approach a reality.

This is why we encourage you to engage with us early; through feasibility studies and visualisations, we can bring your planned methodology to life, to prove the concept and give you - and the end client - confidence in ex*****on.

It's fitting to draw our from Norway, where the MDL Generation 3 Reel Drive System has proven a favourite for flex-lay scopes over the years. Pictured are a few of the projects enabled with this super-compact, highly-integrated package, mobilised on OSVs and DSVs - demonstrating that the back-deck space is just a number that we can certainly work with to make your campaign a success.

Everyone wants it, particularly to tackle deepwater campaigns when budgets and access to specialist vessels are constrained. This , our Wheeled Horizontal Lay System is mobilising for its next campaign in the Americas.

Combining serious capability with a portable design, the MDL WHLS can be deployed wherever it is needed, helping tackle complex flexible lay and recovery projects from locally available vessels of opportunity.

Why did we choose an office in Houston's Energy Corridor? What can you expect at our Houma facility? And what does it really take to build the MDL experience on the other side of the Atlantic?
In this conversation, our Vice President – Americas Shawn Book shares the thinking behind our growing US presence and how we are bringing MDL’s engineering-led approach directly to clients across the region.

It's never too late for a dose of : we’ve reinforced our global asset base with the acquisition of additional tensioner systems, broadening the range and local availability of equipment to support clients worldwide.
The new systems add further flexibility at the lower line-pull end of our portfolio, helping us respond to a wider range of technical, logistical and project-specific requirements across cable, mooring line and SURF handling ops. Read more here: https://loom.ly/10PECHA
