What a show that was! Looking back on Global Offshore Wind, it’s a real moment — the volume and quality of conversations on our stand, and Derek’s presentation on the Peterhead Energy Service Base, which sparked fresh discussions. After all, directly tackles many of the challenges around scaling offshore wind that came up throughout the conference. If you didn’t get a chance to connect, you don’t need to wait for the next event - Derek and the team are always open to a conversation. It was a buzzy day one - just the way we like it! - so we're all revved up for day 2 of Global Offshore Wind 2026. This morning, Derek Lynch is presenting on "Enabling floating offshore wind through port-centric flexibility and innovation" - great starter point for a deeper dive into the Peterhead Energy Service Base with Dave Gardiner and Stephen McCaldin on our stand E88!

Global Offshore Wind 2026 is underway and MDL is in force on stand E88 for the conversations around “Securing the future” - the leading theme of this year’s show.
From onshore to offshore, across our port-enabling infrastructure to optimised cable handling and scalable installation in the dynamic water column, we’re proud to support the industry in tackling today’s challenges and shaping what comes next.

Come by the stand, connect via the event app or reach out to our team on LinkedIn to get the conversation started.

Global Offshore Wind 2026 kicks off tomorrow - here’s our expert team you’ll meet on our stand E88.
We’re keen to talk to you about how projects move from ambition to delivery: from port-based capability to installation readiness, and what it takes to keep programmes moving when complexity increases.

Whether it’s a quick catch-up or a deeper dive — we’d love to see you!

To truly bring home the point on portability of our equipment, combined with efficient vessel mobilisations and a fully comprehensive service at our Peterhead Energy Service Base, here's a feel-good from a recent such operation in Smith Quay. It was an ideal opportunity for and some of our guests to see MDL flexlay spreads close and personal before their offshore deployment - a taster of one of PESB's enabling activities.

Huge thanks to our client Oceaneering for hosting us onboard - and the PESB Managing Director Dave Gardiner for the insights into the future of the site.
For your personalised tour - virtually or IRL - make sure to speak to Dave at Global Offshore Wind next week!

Progressing the energy transition needs more than a dose of good will and ambition; action needs to come in the form of building the infrastructure, capability and supply chain to deliver projects at scale. We're proud to lead the way with the Peterhead Energy Service Base.

PESB Managing Director Dave Gardiner presented on this at the Energy Transition Zone's Peterhead Energy Supply Chain Showcase event last week.

Scottish ports already play a critical role in supporting offshore energy activity and Peterhead is demonstrating how the existing capability - maximised through strategic investment - can unlock an even broader range of offshore wind, SURF installation and decommissioning campaigns in the years ahead.

If you're attending Global Offshore Wind next week you can speak to Dave direct about why Peterhead should be your mobilisation and staging port of choice - you'll find him and the wider on stand E88.

We practice what we preach. The Guyana umbilical transpooling scope is an example of one of those all-important handling stages that helps protect product integrity before it commences its life subsea. Using technology proven in offshore flex-lay operations - here an MDL TTS-2/140 Series Tensioner feeding the product into the onboard carousel - helps ensure the product is handled in a controlled manner as it progresses towards installation.

Our expert team is our inspiration every day of the week, although these photos from the Global Underwater Hub's Subsea Cable Insurance Conference certainly make for a great . MDL Technical Authority Andrew Hastings took to the stage in London to explore a topic that doesn't get enough attention: what actually happens to a cable between leaving the factory and reaching the seabed. Because that's where a significant proportion of installation risk sits.

From engineered handling methodologies and pre-deployment testing to real-time monitoring and data-driven assurance, the message was clear: reducing risk starts long before offshore installation begins.

As subsea cable demand continues to grow, the industry needs more than assumptions that handling has been carried out correctly. With over 25 years of experience handling flexibles in some of the world's most challenging offshore environments, that's a conversation we're always keen to be part of.

For offshore scopes, recovery is only part of the challenge. The next step is efficient onshore processing and disposal - one of the specialist services delivered through our Peterhead Energy Service Base.

Equipped to unload, cut and sort recovered flexibles, with dedicated operational and waste management areas, PESB provides a single location for decom, O&M and cable replacement or repair activities. Every operation is planned and overseen by our expert Project Management & Engineering teams and supported by a trusted local supply chain - built through more than 25 years operating from Peterhead.

If you are planning a North Sea SURF installation or retrieval campaign and want to protect your schedule and budget, speak to PESB Managing Director Dave Gardiner.
