Team CAN colleagues recently attended the 80th HOIS Joint Industry Project (JIP) meeting, kindly hosted by Eddyfi Technologies at their headquarters in Quebec City. Representing CAN Group, Simon Hurst, Engineering Director at ENGTEQ, and David Pirie, Advanced NDT Technical Manager, joined industry peers to collaborate on the future of in-service inspection, as part of our commitment of staying at the forefront of the latest non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies.

HOIS continues to lead the way in advancing non-destructive testing (NDT), bringing together experts from across the energy sector to share knowledge, address technical challenges, and develop independent guidance on the performance and application of techniques across the energy sector. The meeting provided valuable updates across a range of ongoing projects, alongside insightful discussions on the increasing role of artificial intelligence and its growing potential within our industry.

Thank you to the organisers and hosts for delivering such a productive, collaborative, and forward-thinking event. We look forward to continuing our contribution to the HOIS programme and supporting the advancement of innovative inspection technologies and best practice throughout the energy sector.

It was great to welcome clients to our CAN HQ recently for an insight-led session showcasing CAN’s data-rich Remote Inspection Solutions.

Led by Leum Renney, CAN’s Remote Inspection Services Lead, the session explored how advanced robotic technologies including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), submersible Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and robotic crawlers are transforming the way critical assets are inspected, assessed and maintained.

During the session we showcased a range of our RIS technologies in action, highlighting how our remote inspection solutions enable safer, smarter and more efficient data capture to support informed integrity and operational decisions.

Taking clients beyond the camera, David Pirie, CAN’s ANDT Technical Manager, explained how CAN’s data visualisation capabilities convert complex inspection data into clear, actionable insights that support asset integrity and operational performance.

From aerial inspections to subsea and confined-space assessments, CAN’s Remote Inspection Solutions continue to deliver high-quality integrity data that helps clients make smarter maintenance and asset management decisions.
