VIKING - Protecting people and business

Director MSc (Economics) Tage Sørensen, OD founded VIKING Life-Saving Equipment in 1960 to manufacture liferafts for fishing vessels and it was an immediate success. The portfolio grew to include lifesaving equipment for other markets and over the years our reputation for superior quality fuelled an international expansion. Today VIKING is a global enterprise with a comprehensive range of safety and rescue products for the maritime, offshore and fire sectors all over the world. We are in the business of protecting and saving lives and our products are often the last possible means of rescue or evacuation in an emergency. We invest our technical expertise, professional pride and care to ensure that our products perform when needed.

Showing our families what we do best! 🛟

This weekend, 1,100 guests got a closer look when we opened the doors to our headquarters and production facilities in Esbjerg, Denmark.

From watching liferafts being inflated and exploring lifeboats to seeing how survival and fire suits are manufactured, tested and serviced, our colleagues proudly shared what they do every day.

And while the equipment was certainly impressive, the day was just as much about the people behind it. The skills, dedication and teamwork that go into making safety at sea possible.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day special – and to all our guests for their curiosity, enthusiasm and great company! 💙

Some causes are bigger than all of us 💙

Cancer affects people and families all over the world. And fighting it takes a collective effort.

This week, VIKING is proud to support Knæk Cancer, a nationwide Danish initiative bringing people together to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, prevention and support for patients and their families.

The flower is the symbol of Knæk Cancer. We've created our own version using VIKING survival suits, with one person standing out among the empty suits. A reminder that behind every cancer diagnosis is a person, and that no one should have to face it alone.

Saving lives is at the heart of what we do. And we are proud to contribute to a cause dedicated to protecting lives, supporting those affected and creating hope for the future.

Some career paths feel like a natural fit 🚒🛟

Meet Finnia, our trainee at VIKING in Hamburg, Germany. Her working days are filled with administrative tasks and contact with people across the business. But in her spare time, she is a volunteer firefighter.

Firefighting runs in Finnia's family, with several generations volunteering to keep their local community safe. Growing up, she saw the VIKING logo on the protective gear worn by her family. Today, she wears it herself.

So when Finnia joined VIKING, it was more than just a career opportunity. It was a natural match between her professional ambitions and something that has always been part of her life.

And we think that's a pretty special connection!

How often do you see a CEO in boots and a raincoat, joining colleagues at a liferaft test? 🌊

At Esbjerg’s fishing harbour in the 1960s, our first CEO, Jens Bjerre-Madsen, was actively involved in the work.

We started building liferafts to help local fishermen survive emergencies at sea and return safely to their families. Making sure people can depend on our products was a shared responsibility then - and it remains one for all of us today.

A royal recognition for an extraordinary career 🏅

We had the pleasure of celebrating a very special moment as our colleague Erik Skov Pedersen received the Danish Royal Medal of Recompense – a distinction awarded by the Danish Royal House in recognition of long and distinguished service.

The medal was presented by Karoline Amalie Kristensen, Vice Chair of the VIKING Board of Directors, marking Erik’s remarkable career with VIKING.

Erik joined VIKING in 1976 and earlier this year became the first colleague in our history to reach 50 years with the company. Over five decades, his technical expertise, craftsmanship and commitment have taken him to vessels and shipyards around the world – and made him part of VIKING’s development along the way.

Two days of innovation in Esbjerg!

This week, we hosted a hackathon that brought together external specialists, customers and VIKING colleagues with one shared goal: creating even better experiences for our customers.

Assumptions were challenged, expertise was shared openly, and every team put the customer perspective front and centre💡

Three teams developed strong concepts – and the similarities between them told us one thing very clearly: we are onto something. Congratulations to the winning team! 🏆

The ideas created during these two days will now help shape what comes next. We look forward to building on them 💙
