Two days of innovation in Esbjerg!

This week, we hosted a hackathon that brought together external specialists, customers and VIKING colleagues with one shared goal: creating even better experiences for our customers.

Assumptions were challenged, expertise was shared openly, and every team put the customer perspective front and centre💡

Three teams developed strong concepts – and the similarities between them told us one thing very clearly: we are onto something. Congratulations to the winning team! 🏆

The ideas created during these two days will now help shape what comes next. We look forward to building on them 💙

A career that keeps moving 🌎

Over the past 18 years, Jeroen has built his career across the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. From Sales to Operations, and from supporting MES, PPE, and Liferafts to leading the LBS Planning team, his journey reflects a career shaped by new challenges.

"I've never felt like I had to leave to try something new," Jeroen says. "As VIKING continues to evolve and grow, new opportunities keep opening up. It keeps me motivated, focused, and always learning."

Finding the right fit 🪛

Six years ago, Patrick joined VIKING and the MFS team after changing careers from the wood industry. It's a decision he has never looked back on.

"I found VIKING by chance, but I've enjoyed it ever since. The variety of the job is what keeps it interesting - no two days are the same, and neither are the vessels we work on," Patrick says.

Today, Patrick works with a wide range of Marine Fire Service systems, including servicing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) used as part of vessel's firefighting equipment.

Together with the MFS team, Patrick helps ensure that vessels' safety systems are ready when needed 💦

Where quality meets purpose 🪡

After joining VIKING following a career change, Ryan has spent the last 14 years building his expertise across Liferafts and Personal Protective Equipment, Marine.

Today, he leads PPE Service, where he combines hands-on craftsmanship with leadership to ensure suits and lifejackets are repaired, serviced and ready to fulfil their life-saving purpose once again.

For Ryan, attention to detail is essential to helping keep people safe at sea: "Knowing that people rely on our equipment is what makes the quality so important. Every inspection, every stitch and every repair matters". 🌊

💬 "I have learned so much, gained more confidence in myself, and met amazing people in the Liverpool team."

That is exactly what we hope for when we send our trainees abroad. Last month, sales trainee Josefine packed her bags and headed to Liverpool for four weeks with our UK team. During her stay, she explored all sides of the business - from service and planning to experiencing a liferaft exchange onboard a vessel in the Port of Liverpool.

"I gained a much deeper understanding of the business and the collaboration between departments. I really value this opportunity - and I'm really thankful to the Liverpool team for making my experience so great." 💙
