VIKING - Protecting people and business

Director MSc (Economics) Tage Sørensen, OD founded VIKING Life-Saving Equipment in 1960 to manufacture liferafts for fishing vessels and it was an immediate success. The portfolio grew to include lifesaving equipment for other markets and over the years our reputation for superior quality fuelled an international expansion. Today VIKING is a global enterpri

se with a comprehensive range of safety and rescue products for the maritime, offshore and fire sectors all over the world. We are in the business of protecting and saving lives and our products are often the last possible means of rescue or evacuation in an emergency. We invest our technical expertise, professional pride and care to ensure that our products perform when needed.

Last week, some of our new colleagues stepped into the world of VIKING 🌊⚓

Through testing, tasting, and exploring, they got hands-on experience with some of the equipment that helps protect and save lives at sea.

A great way to learn more about our products and business areas - but also to connect with fellow VIKING colleagues and experience the details behind the solutions we create every day 🛟

Once again, welcome aboard!

Maria prepares seafarers for the unexpected 🛟

At VIKING’s training centre in Greece, Maria works as a trainer, preparing seafarers for situations they hope they’ll never face. Freefall lifeboats. Sea survival. Real scenarios where hesitation is not an option.

“People come here nervous. My role is to make sure they leave confident and ready to act.”

With a background in biology, she entered the maritime industry with a clear goal to develop. Today, she delivers hands-on training in demanding conditions, where both technical skill and trust matter.

“In some cases, they don’t expect someone like me to be their trainer, let alone a woman. But I let my actions speak.”

For Maria, VIKING’s global reach and opportunities to grow are a strong match. It allows her to keep developing and aim for what’s next.

And that mindset shapes the way she works every day 💙

We had the pleasure of welcoming our local Team Rynkeby cycling team in Denmark for a training session as they prepare for this summer’s ride to Paris.

Behind every kilometre is a powerful purpose. Team Rynkeby brings together more than 2,000 riders and 500 volunteers across eight countries, all cycling to support children with critical illnesses.

It’s inspiring to see the dedication, teamwork, and commitment that go into this effort. We are proud to support them and the important cause they ride for.

Wishing the team the very best on the road ahead 💙

Claus Sørensen Group has extended its main sponsorship of Esbjerg fB until 2029, continuing a long-term commitment to both elite football and grassroots development ⚽

As part of the agreement, VIKING will remain visible on the players’ shirts across all levels.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to support the local club’s ongoing rebuild and contribute to both performance and community.

“Our connection to Esbjerg runs deep. Seeing our logo on the players’ kit means a lot to our employees, especially as the club continues its rebuild. We believe in the direction EfB is taking, and we are proud to support that journey,” says Henrik Helsinghof, CEO of VIKING.

In Brazil, colleagues have created a local forum for dialogue, support and development 💙

Through regular sessions, the Women's Committee brings employees together to share experiences and discuss topics relevant to everyday working life.

Initiatives like this contribute to a more inclusive working environment, strengthening collaboration and supporting continued development across the organisation, while reflecting a culture where employees are encouraged to take initiative and help shape their workplace 🌱

Staying part of VIKING – in different ways 💙

This week, we welcomed colleagues on parental leave for our VIKING Baby Meeting – a casual gathering to catch up with colleagues and get a glimpse of what’s happening across the business.

Later that same day, we hosted our senior club for their annual “year in review”, bringing former colleagues together to share perspectives, hear about VIKING’s development and meet again.

We value moments like these and we truly appreciate the chance to stay in touch.

: Local teamwork with global perspective 🌍

Our Sales Trainee in Cruise and Ferry, Nicolaj, has just returned from a four-week stay in Cape Town, where daily work at a busy service station and close collaboration with colleagues offered new perspectives on both culture and operations.

Nicolaj shares:

“Cape Town exceeded all my expectations. Coming from Denmark, it was a culture shock in the best possible way. You feel like a guest at first, but quickly like a local.

I gained valuable insight into how a busy service station operates day to day. The team supports each other across tasks, and it is natural to take on different roles at the same time. That mindset is something I will bring with me going forward.

It has truly been an experience of a lifetime. Building strong connections in just four weeks is something special, and it showed me that the VIKING spirit is present everywhere.”

Getting hands-on with our products gives a different perspective 🧑🏻‍🔧

Recently, a group of colleagues from our offices got the chance to work hands-on with life rafts, from how they are made to how they are serviced and carefully repacked.

It did not take long to realise that this is skilled work. Every step matters, and there is no room for shortcuts. It takes focus, experience and, at times, quite a bit of physical strength to get it right 💪🏻

It made it clear how much skill and care goes into every life raft.

Around the world, our service technicians carry that responsibility forward. Every inspection and repack is done with precision, ensuring the equipment is ready to perform when it matters most 💙

Erik celebrates 50 years with VIKING 👏🏼💫

Today, on March 23, Erik Skov Pedersen marks 50 years with VIKING – the first employee in our history to reach this milestone.

For five decades, Erik has helped shape the journey from liferafts to advanced marine evacuation systems, supporting installations and service assignments all over the world. Shipyards, ferries, naval vessels, cruise ships - Erik has been there, applying his technical expertise and deep product knowledge to deliver consistent, high-quality work wherever he goes.

At 72, he still climbs evacuation systems, still travels when duty calls, and still brings the same curiosity and pride to work as he did in 1976.

Erik represents loyalty, craftsmanship, and responsibility at the highest level.

We are proud to celebrate an extraordinary 50-year career and even prouder that he continues to choose VIKING every single day.

Congratulations, Erik and thank you 💙

From internship to operational insights 💡

Over the past three months, Annette has been part of our operations team as an intern during her studies in Production Technology. Working across container preparation, emergency kit packing and liferaft preparation, she has been analysing workflows and collecting data to identify opportunities for improvement.

Annette shares:
“Working hands-on with the processes has made a big difference. It’s one thing to learn about optimization in theory and another to see how it actually works in production.”

Annette’s data now feeds into our ongoing work, where engineer Mia continues to build on the results.

As Mia puts it:
“I started here as an intern myself, so I know how valuable it is to work hands-on with the processes. Internships bring fresh perspectives while giving students real insight into how things work in practice.”
