That red dress…..is in the Museum of Brisbane.

The dress was conceived by Kirstie MacLeod and took 14 years to complete. 367 women, 11 men, and two non-binary artists from 51 countries embroidered 87 panels of burgundy silk dupion. Many of the embroiderers were vulnerable and had suffered, so their creations are a testament to their resilience.

The red dress is a wonderful testament to the way our differences can create harmony, rendering boundaries and borders insignificant.

Dealer days at Bernina Academy are the best. I couldn’t be there this year because it’s my son’s military graduation but one of our teachers went instead. Lived chatting to her today about what’s happening today and tomorrow sounds amazing. Thanks Margaret for carrying the baton for the team.
