What It Takes to Keep Things Moving
Right before Manufacturing Day, we’re recognizing the people behind the work happening every day across our Drilling Products manufacturing operations in West Valley City, Utah.
It’s been a busy year for our teams. From moving part of our operation to our site, training new team members, testing and ramping up equipment, to now operating successfully, there has been a lot of progress and plenty of hard work along the way. And the work continues. Our plant is running every day, producing the diamond bits our customers rely on.
None of this happens without the people behind the machines. It takes skill, teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to getting the job done, shift after shift, day after day. But above everything we make or accomplish, safety comes first.
Before the team came together for lunch, our employees participated in a Global Safety Stand Down. Because behind every employee is a person, a family, and a life that can be impacted by the choices we make at work. Safety is more than a KPI, a number on a dashboard, or a target to achieve. Our greatest concern is when one of our employees does not go home safe at the end of the day. The purpose of the Stand Down was simple: stop, reflect, and restart our commitment to safety. It was also an opportunity to reinforce our first Golden Rule of Safety: We never bypass, modify, or remove a safety control.
And while recognizing our people should never be limited to a single day, it is important to take time throughout the year to appreciate the work they do. Our Plant Manager – Josh Scheepers, and resident “Master Chef,” hosted a barbecue luncheon for our Drilling Products employees. It was a great opportunity for the team to come together, enjoy some good food, and take a moment to recognize everything they’ve accomplished.
At Boart Longyear Drilling Products, we’re continuing to find ways to recognize and appreciate the people who make our operations possible.
To our manufacturing teams: thank you for everything you do. Your work keeps our operations moving, helps us deliver for our customers, and, most importantly, makes safety something we all own.
Happy Manufacturing Day!
