The Chamber is proud to spotlight the Walhalla Demolition Derby Association, the dedicated group behind one of our community's most anticipated summer traditions. Year after year, this volunteer driven organization brings energy, excitement, and a whole lot of hometown spirit to Walhalla through their well organized derby events. Their work goes far beyond the arena, planning, safety coordination, fundraising, and countless hours of preparation all come together to create an experience that brings families, visitors, and competitors together.
The derby has become a staple of local summer fun, supporting community pride and drawing people from across the region. The WDDA’s commitment to putting on a safe, entertaining, and memorable event reflects the passion and teamwork that make small town traditions so special.
Thank you to the Walhalla Demolition Derby Association for your hard work, your dedication to community events, and for being a valued Chamber member. We appreciate everything you do to keep this tradition alive and thriving.

As temperatures rise, late spring and early summer are the predict time to plant heat loving varieties that thrive in North Dakota’s warm, sunny days. Plants like tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, sunflowers, and zinnias all perform well once the soil has warmed up and nighttime temps stay consistently about 50. These plants love full sun, so choose spots that get at least 6-8 hours of light each day. Adding mulch can help keep the soil warm, retain moisture, and reduce weeds giving your heat loving plants the strong start they need. With a little prep and the right timing, your garden will be ready to take full advantage of our summer heat.

June is Dairy Month, a time to recognize the importance of dairy in our everyday lives and to appreciate the farmers across North Dakota and the country who make it possible. Even if we don’t have dairy farms right here in our immediate area, dairy plays a big role in our state’s agricultural story. North Dakota dairy farms help produce the milk, cheese, yogurt, and other products many of us enjoy daily, and they do it with a strong focus on animal care, sustainability, and food safety.
Dairy Month is also a great opportunity to learn more about where our food comes from and the hard work that goes into bringing fresh, nutritious products to our tables. From early morning milking routines to maintaining healthy herds and managing modern technology, dairy farming is a blend of tradition, science, and dedication.
As we kick off June, we invite everyone to take a moment to appreciate the farmers, near and far, who help keep our dairy shelves stocked and out communities connected to agriculture.

Main Street is ready to shine for the 250th Celebration, thanks to some incredible volunteers!
A heartfelt thank you to Wanda Carlock, Sharon Dunnigan, Darlene Stark, Kristi Kasprick, and Carol Castleberry for getting the pots ready.
There were 16 adopted pots this year, with one still available!

And an extra big shoutout to Carol at Natures Best Berries &Blooms for having every pot ready to go. If you see her out placing them along Main Street, don't hesitate to stop and help!

Everything is set in red, white, and blue for the 250th celebration!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Columbia Grain International, formally known as Walhalla Bean Co., and I walked away truly impressed. You think you know what happens inside a place until you actually step through the doors and see the precision, teamwork, and pride that keeps everything running. Watching their process up close, from cleaning and sorting to quality control and logistics, gave me a whole new appreciation for the work happening right here in our community.
Being part of Walhalla since 1981, and despite being a small team, they operate with the efficiency and impact of a much larger operation. They support growers across the region, maintain an outstanding safety record, and they handle millions in production each year. Seeing the level of detail and care that goes into every step was truly eye-opening.
I’m grateful for the chance to learn more about what they do. Businesses like this, rooted in agriculture, hard work, and community, are a big part of what keeps our town strong.
To the entire Columbia Grain team, thank you for welcoming me in and for the pride you bring to your work every single day. Your efforts support our farmers, strengthen our local economy, and reflect the very best of small town dedication.
Thank you for being a valued Chamber member, we are proud to have you as part of our community!
