AMI designs and delivers riverine projects that stabilize shorelines, manage flood risks, and support long-term resilience. From initial field investigations and data collection through hydraulic modeling, sediment analyses, design, and construction management, we stay involved every step of the way to ensure each project is completed correctly and efficiently.

We combine advanced scientific tools with hands-on expertise to navigate the challenges of shorelines, water flow, and sediment movement—creating practical, long-lasting results tailored to each river system.

We’re excited to share that AMI will be serving as the lunch sponsor for the Marine Highway 35 workshop hosted by the Upper Mississippi Waterway Association, an inaugural conference on the Mississippi River.

The Mississippi River system plays a critical role in our nation’s infrastructure and supply chain. This event is a hands-on workshop that brings together industry leaders, agencies, and stakeholders for in-depth conversations on the ā€œworking riverā€ā€”from freight movement and infrastructure needs to funding opportunities and strategies to improve efficiency.

At AMI, we’re closely connected to this work through our support of ports, harbors, and industrial infrastructure—helping keep these systems operating efficiently and reliably.

We’re proud to support this initiative and look forward to connecting with others working to strengthen and sustain our inland waterways.

It was a perfect Duluth morning for kicking off the Lakewalk Bike Trail Coastal Tour, a part of the National Outdoor Recreation Conference (NORC).

AMI’s Ryan Dagger, along with the City of Duluth’s Landscape Architect Jim Shoberg and Senior Project Manager Michael LeBeau, led the tour, telling the story of how Duluth transformed from a heavily industrial city into a thriving outdoor and tourist town. The tour started at Harbor Plaza and ended in Canal Park, with stops at Bayfront Park, Corner of the Lake Beach, Beacon Pointe, and Brighton Beach.

AMI has proudly contributed to many projects along the route, including:
• Several improvements to the DECC seawall, including work supporting new cruise ship operations
• Multiple phases of work to rehabilitate and protect the Lakewalk
• Brighton Beach shoreline improvements

Recently, AMI co-owner Chad Scott presented at the 2026 Minnesota Infrastructure Report Card Release at the Duluth International Airport

Chad contributed to this important statewide effort by helping update the 2026 Report Card and leading the review of the Ports section. Alongside fellow engineers, he volunteered his time and expertise to raise awareness of Minnesota’s infrastructure needs and support informed, thoughtful public policy decisions.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Minnesota Report Card serves as an annual check-in on the condition of Minnesota’s infrastructure, providing a valuable public service by informing citizens and policymakers about current needs and future priorities. It highlights the critical role infrastructure plays in maintaining a high quality of life across the state.

This year, the Ports grade improved to a C, with recommendations outlined to continue progress in the years ahead.

The event was led by Craig Bursch, TKDA, ASCE. Remarks from local infrastructure stakeholders included Natalie Baker from the Duluth Airport Authority, Carrie Clement, PE from Resource Renew , Pat Huston, PE from the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 1, and the City of Duluth, MN Government
