Acetal/POM can be a strong material choice for many wear, motion, and precision support parts, but it is not a universal replacement for metal or every high-performance plastic.

In mining and harsh industrial environments, acetal may be useful for:
• Conveyor bushings
• Chain guides
• Low-friction rails
• Pump and valve components
• Sensor housings
• Hydraulic support parts
• Equipment internals

It is generally not the right fit for extreme abrasion zones, structural load-bearing parts, high-heat areas, or highly aggressive chemical environments.

That is where material selection matters. Sometimes acetal is the right answer. Other times, UHMW, nylon, PTFE, PEEK, PPS, stainless steel, or another material may be the better fit.
