Abacus Architects, Inc.

Abacus Architects, Inc. Relational architecture means we don’t just design buildings—we build relationships. It’s only fundamental.

At Abacus Architects, we believe in architecture for all—building together toward a shared vision. RELATIONAL ARCHITECTURE

Designing buildings that connect with their communities. Creating places that inspire, enrich, or simply work well is vitally important to us. In fact, every project we pursue is based on our ability to enhance community life. At Abacus Architects, we design to build relation

ships between people and their environments. Architecture should serve the people who inhabit the places we create, not the other way around. It’s architecture for all of us, building together to reach a common goal.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy every day and to express gratitude to those who served with courage and selflessness.

From all of us at Abacus Architects, we remember and honor the fallen, and we extend our appreciation to the families who carry their legacy forward.

We’ve called a lot of places home in Milwaukee over the years, but none of them were truly ours. Each office represented a chapter of growth, from a small team with big goals to the collaborative firm we are today.

Now, for the first time, we’re building a space designed around our people, our culture, and the way we work together.

The road to purchasing an office space has been years in the making, and we’re excited to finally share the journey.

We’re excited to share the future home of Abacus Architects in Milwaukee!

This new office represents more than just a building. It reflects our continued growth, our investment in the communities we serve, and our commitment to creating a collaborative space where design, engineering, and relationships come together under one roof.

Designed to support our team, clients, and partners for years to come, the new office will provide an environment built around creativity, connection, and innovation while showcasing the integrated approach that defines Abacus Architects.

We’re grateful for the clients, partners, and communities who have helped us reach this milestone, and we look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses. Keep an eye out for progress photos along the way as the future home of Abacus takes shape.

Happy Earth Day 🌎

What does sustainable design actually look like in practice?

It goes beyond adding solar panels or using recycled materials. The biggest impact often comes from early design decisions like building orientation, natural daylighting, and energy efficient systems. Thoughtful site placement can reduce energy use, improve comfort, and lower long term costs before construction even begins.

At Abacus Architects, we approach every project with this in mind. Smart, intentional design choices today create more sustainable spaces for tomorrow.

As we wrap up , we’re excited to highlight a program that brings creativity and learning to life in a hands-on way: Cardboard Creations at Above & Beyond Children's Museum 📦✨

In this program, kids and caregivers design imaginative cardboard builds while exploring early design and math concepts like symmetry, shape, and spatial reasoning through play. It is learning through doing, and creativity in its most natural form.

At Abacus Architects, we see a clear connection between experiences like this and the work we do every day. Architecture starts with curiosity, problem solving, and the ability to turn ideas into something tangible.

We are grateful to sponsor this program so it can remain no cost to participants and continue sparking creativity in the next generation of designers and thinkers.

is about more than celebrating architecture. It is about recognizing the spaces where future architects, engineers, and problem-solvers are formed.

At Abacus Architects, we bring extensive experience in K–12 facilities and are proud to support education through the design of learning environments that shape everyday experience for students and educators alike. From classrooms to collaborative spaces, these environments are designed to support curiosity, connection, and growth.

We do not take that responsibility lightly. These are the spaces where the next generation begins to imagine what is possible.
