🍅 Tomato Update from Ridge Hardware 🍅

Well… either our customers didn’t buy enough tomatoes, or Donnie bought too many tomatoes. The jury is still out on that one.

As a result, Jenny was spotted in the parking lot conducting what appeared to be a highly scientific tomato-launching experiment with one of the leftovers. We’re not sure if she was testing aerodynamics, checking road conditions, or simply taking her frustrations out on produce.

There is also a small possibility she was imagining the tomato was Angela. We cannot confirm or deny these allegations. 🤣

The good news: no customers were hit.
The bad news: there are no more tomatoes.

📣 We Need to Borrow a Few Things for Ridge, White & Blue! 🇺🇸

We’re not looking for money, sponsorships, or donations this time around — we’re looking to borrow a few items to help make our event even more fun for the kids and families attending!

We’re currently searching for:
✅ A tug-of-war rope for our games and competitions
✅ Large lawn games for the kids’ area (Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, oversized checkers, etc.)
❌ No co****le needed — we’ve got plenty of that covered already!

If you have something sitting in the garage, shed, or basement that you’d be willing to let us borrow for the weekend of the event, we’d love to hear from you.

Have something else that might be fun for a community event? Let us know! Sometimes the best ideas are the ones we haven’t thought of yet.

Send us a message, stop by the store, or give us a call if you can help. We promise to return everything to you.

Thanks for helping us make Ridge, White & Blue a great day for our community! 🇺🇸

After careful consideration, Mason has claimed the Straw Bale Throne and declared himself ruler of the straw kingdom.

His first royal decree:
"Straw bales shall remain just $4.75 each at Ridge Hardware."

We can't guarantee you'll look as majestic as Mason, but for $4.75, it's worth a shot.

Throne sold separately. Royal attitude not included.

Alright, I guess it’s time I say something nice about my employees for once.

One of them has been asking me nonstop lately, “Who’s your favorite employee?”

My answer is always the same:
“I don’t know. Ask me a different day.”

Not because I actually have a favorite, but because every day one of them does something that either impresses me, makes me laugh, saves the day, or makes me question every hiring decision I’ve ever made.

Facebook would probably have you convinced that I spend all day picking on them, posting embarrassing stories, and plotting ways to make their jobs slightly more difficult. And honestly… that’s not completely inaccurate.

But the truth is, I’m lucky.

There isn’t a single employee here that I hate. There isn’t a single employee that makes me dread coming to work. In fact, it’s the opposite.

And when I really think about it, we’ve been lucky for years. Sure, people have come and gone, but Ridge Hardware has always seemed to attract good people. Looking back, we’ve had a lot of employees over the years who showed up, worked hard, cared about the customers, and made coming to work enjoyable. That’s not something every workplace gets to say.

The current crew is no different.
These guys show up on time. They work hard. And all day long I hear, “What do you need me to do?” or “What’s next?”

The funny part is they seem to think I have all the answers.

Some days it’s just a blank page up there. I have no clue what’s next either.

But they keep me on my toes. They keep me moving because they keep moving. If they’re looking for the next task, then I better figure one out. If they’re working hard, then I better keep up.

Some days the customers are wild, deliveries are late, things break, and nothing goes according to plan—but these people somehow make it fun anyway.

So while I may give them a hard time on Facebook, make jokes at their expense, and occasionally use them as content for the page, it’s all done because they’re a great group of people and I genuinely appreciate every one of them.

Now don’t get emotional about this. Tomorrow we’ll go right back to making fun of each other. (Or later today….)

🎓 FROM KINDERGARTEN TO TODAY 🎓

The St. Michael's School Online Auction is officially underway!

As alumni, Donnie, Angela, and Chloe are proud to support the school. In fact, the current principal, Mrs. Mary VanRyswick, was Angela and Chloe's Kindergarten teacher many years ago. Talk about a full-circle moment!

Over the years, Ridge Hardware has employed many St. Michael's graduates, and we've seen firsthand the positive impact the school has had on our community.

We were happy to donate an item to this year's auction, and we encourage everyone to check out the auction website, find something you like, and place a bid.

📅 Auction runs through June 19th at 6:00 PM.

Let's help make this year's auction a success!

🦀🔨 CRAB SEASON IS HERE! 🔨🦀

You can’t have a proper Maryland crab feast without a few essentials:

✅ A bucket of crabs
✅ A pile of newspaper nobody reads anyway
✅ Plenty of JO Crab Seasoning
✅ A crab mallet that makes people laugh

We’ve got the Ridge Hardware 5-gallon buckets ready to haul your catch, JO Crab Seasoning on the shelf, and these wooden crab mallets with sayings like:

🦀 “It’s Hammer Time”
🦀 “Got Crabs?”
🦀 “Crabs, Friends & A Cold One… Life is Good”

Because let’s be honest… cracking crabs is serious business, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun doing it.

Stop by Ridge Hardware and get stocked up before the next crab feast. We can’t guarantee you’ll catch any crabs, but at least you’ll look prepared while telling everyone about the ones that got away. 😎🦀
