The metal choice is not a performance decision.

Once a plaque is mounted, bronze, brass, and aluminum all stay put. What separates them is how they look in 10 years, and that comes down to finish, not material.

Bronze ages beautifully when you let it. But if no one tells the architect that the clear coat controls that process, they'll spec the wrong finish for the result they're after. Courtney explains where this gap comes from, and what it costs when the conversation doesn't happen before production.

A.R.K. Ramos has been a family business for 80 years, and that shows up in unexpected places, like family vacations and school trips where somebody points at a building and says, we made that.

This one's for Courtney's PaPa Max, and the standard he set that still shapes how A.R.K. works today. Eighty years in, the name on the wall still means something because the family behind it never let it slip.

A digital layout can tell you where a letter goes. It can't tell you what the wall actually is.

That's why every cast letter A.R.K. installs starts with a physical template, not a digital one. Our letters are cast by hand, one at a time, so the outline isn't a clean digital shape you can just print and mount. It's traced by hand, off the actual piece.

That template becomes the only accurate record of that letter's shape and where it needs to sit. You can't recreate it from a file. You can't email it. It has to travel with the installer.

For a GC running a museum, courthouse, or hospital project, that's the difference between an install day that runs clean and one that doesn't.

This year marks 80 years since A.R.K. Ramos got its name.

It started in Mexico in the 1930s, then became A.R.K. Ramos Foundry in 1946.

Starting this month, we're sitting down with President, Courtney Ramos-Fincher and COO Brendan Ramos to hear that story firsthand. October 31st is the actual anniversary, and that's when the full interview drops.
