John Memmelaar, Sr.
February 24, 1935 – July 22, 2026

My father passed away yesterday and for those of you who knew him you know the impact he had on not only the lives of our employees but the lives of many around the world. Known as “ The Boss “ within the walls of Royal Master he grew up from being employee number 14, driving the van during High school, and over the next 60+ years of his life and employment at Royal, he not only worked his way up to ownership but in 2019 his dream came true when Royal Master became wholly owned by the he and myself, his son.

As his son, I was fortunate to have him as my father, there were a lot of lessons growing up that shaped me to who I am today, personally and professionally. We shared many memories of anything mechanical, from vintage cars, backhoes and of course centerless grinders. With all the antique cars he had, it is without a doubt his favorite toy was his backhoe. When he ran out of places to dig holes, he kept it to plow snow.

His legacy at Royal Master impacted over 400 employees in his 60+ years, he provided for their families, celebrated in their milestones, and helped them grieve in their times of need. For all of those whom his lives touched he will be missed, and his legacy at Royal Master Grinders will live on.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Webster House in New Hampshire, a place very special to his wife Ellen.

John took a few minutes in between demos to take us on a tour of the machines that are grinding parts LIVE on the show floor in the Royal Master Booth.

We are all set up in Anaheim at the Convention Center for MD&M West 2026. Come by and say hello! We have NEW machines for you to check out and see in action!

MD&M West is here, and the RMG truck is loaded.

We are excited to show what we have been building and refining. If you look closely at the markings on the crates and do a little detective work, you might figure out what is inside. As usual, we pushed it to the limit. Out of a 53-foot trailer, we ended up with about NINE inches to spare. That is how we roll.

We are headed to Anaheim. You can find us in booth #3035, setting up, making noise, and turning a pile of equipment into working machines. Rich, Oscar, and I will be there early, and the rest of the crew will be rolling in shortly after.

Friday’s Royal Master holiday luncheon was a great reminder of why I am so proud of this awesome team.

We took some time to look back at what we accomplished in 2025, and it was worth pausing to recognize just how much ground we covered. Building and shipping 71 centerless grinding machines in one year does not happen by accident. It happens because every person here shows up, solves problems, and takes ownership. All 60 of you. Across engineering, manufacturing, service, sales, administration, and everything in between.
That level of ex*****on matters.

We also spent time talking about where we are headed. IMTS 2026 will be here before we know it, and we have big plans for September. There is also a BIG announcement coming later this summer that I am very excited about.

Most importantly, I shared the theme that will drive how we think, build, and operate in 2026.

Relentless Innovation.

It's not a slogan. It's a commitment. It means we keep pushing our machines, our processes, and ourselves to be better, faster, and more efficient for our customers. It means we do not settle. We do not coast. We keep moving forward.

Thank you to this incredible team for another year of hard work, dedication, and pride in what we build together. I can't wait to see what we will accomplish next.
