For Melissa Fredrickson, construction has always been part of the picture, long before her 29‑year career officially began. As a Board Member of our Women’s Associate Resource Group, Melissa shared that her connection to the industry started early through her father’s work. After earning her BS in Accounting, she joined the business she grew up around and began her journey at Truss Pros. What started as a natural next step became decades of partnership, opportunity, and growth.
Melissa is proud of her long career and the strong relationships she has built with coworkers, customers, and her team. “I have always been proud to be a part of an industry that is not dominated by women, and earning respect in that industry is also rewarding.” She values supporting others, improving processes, and finding solutions together.
Her focus now is on continued growth as both a leader and a coworker. She believes in improving systems, learning new skills, and helping others build confidence and pride in their accomplishments. With the industry evolving quickly, she believes adaptability is essential for success.
Melissa shared encouraging advice for women entering the field. “Do not be intimidated by this industry just because it is not dominated by women. Be confident, ask questions, build strong relationships, and work hard.” She believes construction offers many opportunities for anyone willing to learn.
She credits her father as her greatest mentor. “He showed me the value of honesty, accountability, and hard work… His guidance gave me the confidence to value my own worth and trust my own decisions.”
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys time with family. She is a proud grandmother of four and loves days at the lake, summer golf, and moments that help balance a busy work life.
One of the best lessons she carries with her is, “Always do your best and have faith in yourself.” Melissa also believes women bring essential strengths to construction, including perspective, problem solving, dedication, and teamwork.
