How Does a Faucet Valve Create a Seal?
A faucet controls water flow through an internal valve and sealing interface.
When the handle is turned toward the closed position, the valve mechanism moves the sealing element against its seat and blocks the flow path. Opening the valve separates the sealing surfaces and allows water to pass again.
The exact internal design varies between faucet types.
