This Engineers Week, we’re reflecting on how engineering has helped Lake Pontchartrain manage water flow, protect communities, and support the region’s evolving landscape. From the lake’s formation to the infrastructure that guides its waters today, each decision plays a role in building a more resilient future. The theme of Engineers Week 2026, Transform Your Future, reminds us that engineering is not only about solving today’s challenges but also about shaping the opportunities and safety of generations to come.

Here are some snapshots from our team throughout the Mardi Gras season! We had a blast dancing in the streets with our friends and families. And now, we rest and get back to work (until Jazz Fest, that is).

The new Vision 2 Reality (V2R) Stormwater Management Park on N. Claiborne is designed to absorb stormwater, cool the neighborhood, and create a welcoming space for the community. It's a powerful example of how engineering and collaboration can shape a safer, more sustainable future for New Orleans.

We’re proud to have provided structural design and survey services for this project alongside incredible partners who brought this vision to life: Louisiana Green Corps, Waggoner and Ball, Department of Parks and Parkways, Groundwork New Orleans, Dana Brown and Associates, Greater New Orleans Foundation, Healthy Community Services, and Water Wise New Orleans

Welcome to The Kingsway, Magazine Street’s newest eatery. Batture provided Civil Engineer and Landscape Architect services for this new restaurant. We had to grade/slope the sidewalk up to meet the finished floor elevation of the building without ramps. For their alley, we designed a french drain connected to the city’s stormwater system to manage water from the roof. They wanted to have outdoor seating amongst lush gardens with trees etc, so we created little pockets of hardscape nestled between in ground planting beds that is big enough for a table without impeding flow of traffic on the sidewalk. This makes the project unique to Magazine Street bc trees/ greenery are generally not a city requirement along that street for new construction.
