🌿 Clean Air Transformation
How do you approach dust collection for a new woodworking machine? Start at the source.

For a leading yacht shipbuilding and woodworking operation, a new Kundig Sander created a need for an engineered dust collection solution. The project called for a system that could capture dust at the source, support a cleaner work environment, and address fire protection requirements.

The solution included:
• 15,000 CFM IVEC® baghouse dust collection system
• 180-bag baghouse and 75 HP blower
• IVEC® IPS2, Vigiflap, and rotary airlock
• Spark detection and abort gate

The documented outcome? A shipshape shop floor with a dust-free sander and surrounding area, helping reduce downtime, protect from fire, and support smoother production.

This project demonstrates the importance of selecting dust collection equipment around the specific application—not simply the machine itself.

🌿 Clean Air Transformation
How do you design dust collection for a combustible-dust application? Start with the engineering requirements.

A Door manufacturer was preparing to install a CNC router for cutting fiberglass composite doors. The application called for effective dust collection and safeguards to address combustible-dust hazards.

Hastings developed an integrated solution featuring:
• IVEC® 6 cartridge dust collector with six wide-pleat cartridges
• 1,200 CFM of documented airflow
• Explosion protection and isolation components
• Controls and monitoring to support ongoing system oversight

The result: a system designed around the application's collection needs, filtration requirements, employee health, and explosion-protection considerations.

The takeaway: Effective industrial dust collection is about more than capturing particles. It requires selecting and integrating the right components for the process and its hazards.

🌿 Clean Air Transformation

A manufacturing facility was experiencing mist in its production environment. Uncontrolled mist can cause respiratory irritation, degrade air quality, and create slippery surfaces that increase workplace safety risks.

We assessed the challenge and designed a centralized mist collection system to capture the mist from six machines and help maintain a cleaner, safer production environment.

Our solution combined:
• Airflow Systems MP120 mist collector
• Automated variable frequency drive (VFD)
• Vanstone-gasketed, clamp-together ductwork

Effective mist collection depends on more than the collector alone. Matching the collection equipment with appropriate drive controls and well-sealed ductwork creates an effective and efficient solution designed around the facility's needs.
