🌿 Clean Air Transformation Tuesday

A Kentucky fire station needed a better solution for returning their STR trolley to the back bay. They reached out to Hastings for help.

Our solution:
We designed a Return Trolley that brings the hose drop directly to the rear of the station—making the process faster and more efficient.

The results:
✅ Saves valuable time
✅ Eliminates the need for employees to walk the hose back to the rear of the bay
✅ Helps reduce unnecessary diesel exhaust exposure

It’s a simple change that can make a meaningful difference in day-to-day fire station operations.

🌿 Clean Air Transformation Tuesday

When a northeastern natural gas utility needed a better way to control welding fumes across its service centers, traditional approaches were falling short. Source capture struggled to contain fumes generated from both ends of the piping fixtures, while previous ambient air cleaning systems lacked the power and airflow strategy needed to effectively manage fugitive welding fumes throughout the shop.

After seeing a Hastings/IVEC® system in operation, one of the welding managers reached out to Hastings Air Energy Control. Our team evaluated the fabrication shop and developed a customized ambient air cleaning solution that worked around the facility’s overhead cranes and low ceilings.

Our solution:
• Installed two IVEC® GVSC5 units with IVEC® Controls
• Created an effective ambient air cleaning pattern for the unique shop layout
• Used custom-fabricated, low-profile stands to support the two units
The results:
✅ Excellent hands-off, total room filtration
✅ Improved control of fugitive welding fumes throughout the fabrication area
✅ A solution that worked within the shop’s existing space constraints
✅ Strong customer satisfaction, leading to the implementation of similar systems at other service centers

Proper air cleaning requires an engineered approach based on the facility layout, welding process, and contaminant behavior.

Whether you’re dealing with welding fumes, fugitive dust, or other airborne contaminants, Hastings can help you find the right solution for your facility.

🐝July Round up at Hastings

July flew by at Hastings! From trade shows and customer visits to charity golf outings, it was a month full of activity.

We kicked off the month by exhibiting at OFC, MOACTE/MCCTA, and AME. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, we always enjoy connecting with customers, partners, and industry peers.

As we head into August, our trade show schedule is ramping up. We’ll be attending four events this month:

Fire-Rescue International (Plymovent booth)
KAFC Leadership Conference
Public Works Expo (Plymovent booth)
International Woodworking Fair (IWF)

If you’re attending any of these events, we’d love to meet you! Be sure to stop by the booth, especially at IWF, where we’ll have a special woodworking display and live demonstrations you won’t want to miss.

Our Technology Experience Center (TEC) also welcomed two groups of visitors in July. We’re always excited to showcase our equipment in action and share what makes Hastings unique. Interested in visiting? Reach out, we’d love to host you.

We were also proud to have members of our team participate in the Croal Open, a charity golf outing we’re honored to support each year.

We’re looking forward to everything August has in store—from trade shows and customer visits to company events. Here’s to another great month!

Over the past two days, much of the Upper Midwest and Northeast has experienced hazardous air quality from wildfire smoke, with PM2.5 concentrations reaching approximately 0.327 mg/m³.

While wildfire smoke and welding fumes aren’t a direct comparison, they serve as an important reminder of the risks associated with airborne contaminants. For perspective, OSHA’s permissible exposure limit for welding fume particulate is 5 mg/m³ as an 8-hour time-weighted average—more than 15 times the concentration measured during this wildfire event. Yet repeated exposure to welding fumes can lead to serious long-term health effects.

Whether the hazard is outdoors or inside a manufacturing facility, reducing exposure matters.

At Hastings Air Energy Control, our mission is simple: capture contaminants before they reach a worker’s breathing zone, helping manufacturers create cleaner, safer workplaces.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the wildfires, especially the communities and first responders on the front lines. Stay safe and protect the air you breathe.

⛱️ June Round-Up at Hastings ⛱️

Summer has officially arrived, and June was a busy one here at Hastings! Between trade shows, customer visits, and plenty of memorable moments in between, the month flew by.

Did you stop by one of our booths this month? Whether you saw us at ExpoMaq, the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association Annual Conference, or the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters State Convention, it was great connecting with you and talking through your applications. Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

We’re excited to keep the momentum going in July. From Columbus to Springfield and Grand Rapids, we’ll be traveling across the Midwest and would love to see you at one of our upcoming shows.

We also welcomed three customers to our Technology Experience Center (TEC) this month. We love meeting everyone that stops by, showing them an application in action and spending real time getting to know our customers. Interested in visiting the TEC? We’d love to host you, reach out to our team to schedule a visit!

June was also National Safety Month. If you missed our safety-focused social media series, be sure to check it out! Throughout the month, we shared tips, insights, and resources to help keep safety top of mind.

Beyond the events and customer visits, our team had plenty of opportunities to connect, from the WSFCA Golf Outing to enjoying the summer weather. It’s been a great month of teamwork, and we’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished together.

We’re excited to be back after a long holiday weekend and can’t wait to see what July has in store! We hope to see you this month!
