Stainless vs. food-safe epoxy washdown motors - which do you actually need? 🤔

The answer most plants need to hear: it depends on what your sanitation crew is actually doing, not what's on the spec sheet.

Food-safe epoxy (CFSWDM, EWDM) works when:
✅ Cleaning is mild detergent
✅ Moderate pressure and temp
✅ Indirect contact, packaging, secondary processing

Stainless steel (CESSWDM) is worth it when:
✅ Chlorinated sanitizers or peracetic acid in your CIP
✅ High-pressure, high-temp washdown (140°F+)
✅ Direct food contact or USDA-inspected
✅ Salt/brine/acid environments (seafood, dairy, fermentation)
✅ Your epoxy motors keep failing inside 2 years

Stainless costs 80-120% more upfront. It pays for itself with one avoided line stop.

Another one back to life. 🔧

Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 analog input module - came in from a life sciences plant with corrosion inside the housing and a damaged connector. Most shops would scrap it.

New board. New connector. Cleaned up. All 4 channels tested and back to spec.

Repair: $300
New: $600-$1,000
