I needed to make a run to North Carolina to switch out a tractor for a customer and then swing past Unifarm Machinery to pick up a couple of 5 foot Brush Hogs and a small 3 Point Hitch Disk.
Dad wanted to Ride along. So, we left last Wendesday evening and made an overnight trip together.
We drove most of the night and ended up at a farm near Windsor, North Carolina. We swapped the tractor out first thing in the morning and then headed over to WIlson, North Carolina to Unifarm Machinery.
Dad has talked to a lot of people over the phone regarding business stuff over the years but he has never actully met many of them face to face. Dad got to met John Cheatam and Christoper Cash at Unifarm Machinery. Christopher even went out and picked up breakfast for us before we got there.
We loaded up and started North to the LS Tractor's facility in Battleboro, North Carolina. I picked up some parts at LS Tractor for a customer and dad got to meet a couple of the parts people Connie Gilbert and "Sol" Soledad Cruz-Sanchez that we have dealt with over the phone at LS tractor. Shannon Sharp from accounting also came out to talk and visit with dad.
We left LS Tractor and headed to Skippers, VA. We made the obligatory stop at the Good Earth Peanut Company. Dad finally got to go into the old store that we bring nuts back from on all our trips South. He even got to get a cup of Fresh Boiled Peanuts to eat on the way home. The cashier in the store helped us carry stuff back to the truck and then she even posed with dad for a photo.
We made our last stop at Shawnee Springs in Cross Junction, Virgina for a cup of coffee and to grab a couple of fresh pies.
It was the longest trip that dad has been on in years. (( 821.2 miles Round Trip ))
Dad's health has declined significantly over that past couple of years. Realistically, he probably doesn't have a lot of these type of adventures left. I am glad that we got to go on this one and take a father son roadtrip together.
Like usual, I have attached some photos for you to look through if you want and also like usual the camera spontaneously reset the datestamp on the photos. I can assure you that we just took this trip. It was not back in 2019. LOL!
