Tungco CEO Cliff Nance spoke with The Korea Times about tungsten supply security and how allied production, like Almonty’s new Sangdong mine in Korea, can work alongside American recycling to reduce U.S. reliance on China. In his words, “The future of tungsten security isn’t mining versus recycling. It is both.”

Not all tungsten comes back. In defense, it's used in products that never return. In nuclear, recovery can take decades. And as today's data centers age out, there's still no clear path for recycling the chips inside them. Where tungsten can be recovered, the U.S. is already strong, with some categories reaching recycle rates as high as 80%. That's why Project 74 is focused on capturing every pound of recoverable scrap here at home, especially now that tungsten falls under export restrictions that came down August 6.
