Fall is a great time to review the weight limits of your overhead storage areas, lofts, and mezzanines. As equipment and supplies get moved around for the season, it’s easy to overload spaces without realizing it.

Make sure stored materials are evenly distributed and never exceed the structure’s rated load capacity. Proper weight distribution helps protect your building and keeps everyone working inside safe. 🔨🍂

When planning a new building, it’s easy to focus on the roof, doors, and overall appearance. But the lower portion of your walls deserves just as much attention.

Here’s why:

✅ Everyday impacts add up
Lawn equipment, machinery, tools, and vehicles can accidentally damage lower wall panels over time.

✅ Moisture and debris matter
Rain splash back, mud, dirt, and other debris can create additional wear near ground level.

✅ Consider protective options
Wainscoting, protective barriers, and other design features can help protect areas that experience frequent contact or exposure.

✅ Think about your building’s surroundings
A building surrounded by gravel, pavement, or agricultural activity may experience different types of wear than one surrounded by grass.

A wonderful tribute to the Matriarch of the Nimmer Family. In her 103 (and a half!) years on this planet, she taught us all numerous life lessons (she was a teacher) and fed us WELL. We miss her immensely.

Meet Marcella… our mother starter! 🤍🍞

She’s named after our loving Grandma Nimmer, who was always in the kitchen cooking, filling bellies, and making sure everyone ate GOOD food. ❤️ If you knew Grandma, you know she wouldn’t let you leave the kitchen hungry!

Well, we think Grandma’s mischievous side made its way into our bakery this morning… because Marcella decided she wanted to make a little bigger appearance than usual! 😂🤪

Let’s just say she was feeling extra bubbly today!

A little mess, a lot of love, and a whole lot of sourdough. Just the way Grandma would’ve loved it. ❤️

Here are a few things to consider:

✅ Durability matters
Different environments put different demands on building materials. Moisture, temperature changes, equipment, and everyday wear can all affect long-term performance.

✅ Think about maintenance
Some materials and finishes require more upkeep than others. Consider how much time and effort you’re willing to put into maintaining your building.

✅ Consider the building’s purpose
An agricultural building, commercial facility, and personal storage building may have very different needs when it comes to materials and finishes.

✅ Look beyond the initial cost
A less expensive option today isn’t always the best value over the life of the building. Durability, maintenance, and expected service life all matter.
