Matthew 14 starting in verse 22, we read about a time when Jesus was alone on a mountain praying. He went to return to the boat where the disciples were, but the boat had been swept from shore, and the disciples were battling a fierce storm. In our lives, hard times hit just like this—sometimes sudden, overwhelming, exhausting, and frightening. We feel stranded in the dark as waves of grief, financial strain, or anxiety crash around us.
Yet, Jesus walks through the chaos to reach us. Verse 29: So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on water to go to Jesus. (Verse 30) But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord save me!” Verse 31 records Jesus' immediate response: And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him.
No matter how deep your trouble feels today, you are never beyond His reach. When Peter looked at the storm, he sank; when he called on Jesus, he was saved. Your struggle is not too big for God. When fear takes over, and you start to drown in despair, call on His name. Jesus is right there, ready to stretch out His hand, pull you up, and calm your storm. - Evan Stauffer, Operations Manager
