Since Stork's was founded by Gene & Theresa Stork, family has always been important to us. Living at the shop provided an opportunity for their kids—Jeen, April, and foster child Andy—to grow up in the experience and work in the business from a young age.

These early photos are a fun reminder of that, as the shop was attached to the house. It was part of life.

From the days of the auto repair shop, notary work, jeep parts, and car lot to being snow and ice only, the business has changed a lot over the years.

More photos from the old Bernville shop. We put in countless hours back then trying to make it work and keep the shop afloat. Lots of late nights, early mornings, and tough days. Lots of great days too, talking with customers and helping solve their problems.

Bernville was small. Finding enough space to work and store parts was tough. In 1996 we bought the house next to the shop that was being foreclosed, which gave us more room. In 1999 we ended up buying the property on the other side to have more space, and over the years we grew to two more properties. But they were broken, making it tough to pull orders fast.

We didn't have all the amenities we do now like a full show room, a waiting room and space for customers to wait, or a huge parking lot so you're not out in RT 183. But we kept working with what we had until that shop just wasn't big enough anymore.

Our Leesport location is incredible. It's served us well to provide a much better customer experience and will continue to do so. That experience in Bernville for 37 years makes us constantly appreciate what we have now.

In 1986 when we purchased the business it was nothing to look at. The place was old, beat-up, and money was tight. Here are some of the earliest photos we have just after buying it.

The first few days there the well went bad, we found boxes of new parts inventory we bought had been swapped out for used parts, and a drunk driver came through the front parking lot in a tractor trailer, totaling most of the vehicles we owned. What looked bad turned out to be how the first mortgage payment got paid.

It was many years of just barely keeping it going. If it was not for Gene and Theresa Stork taking the risk and grinding day in and day out in the old shop we would not be where we are today.

After the first year the Stork Family moved out of their house and lived in an apartment at the shop, turning it into home for the next 20 years.

We paved the lot around the new shipping area! Now UPS/USPS can pull right up to the doors, and we can drive forklifts in and out. We're always trying to make things more efficient so we can keep up with the orders.

Years ago we started sealing our electronics in bags with a tag. This gives our customers the chance to return them if unopened rather than the normal policy of "no electronics can be returned."

You can't plow what you can't see. Good lights make a world of a difference when you're out in the snow. We have a variety of LED lighting options available on our website.
