Meet the Lawrence Residence! For this project, Dibble provided structural engineering services for an addition to this existing single-family residence. The new level 3 addition is located along a steep slope critical area and includes a cantilevered soldier pile shoring wall along the north and east perimeter walls. The project was led by our engineers, Travis Colliander, P.E., S.E. Colliander and Amanda Linder. Special thanks to our longtime partners at Clark | Barnes for bringing us onto this project.

From last fall through early spring, our region saw unusually high winds and severe storms, and with that came a surge in tree strike incidents across local neighborhoods. While every household affected has its own story, one thing is always the same: when damage happens unexpectedly, people just want safety, clarity, and someone they can trust.

Dibble Engineers assisted with more than 50 homeowners restoring their properties and bring their structures back up to code following tree damage. Our goals are to ensure structural safety, provide efficient work to allow families return to normal, support with documentation for insurance and permitting, so homeowners don’t have to navigate it alone.

We hope no one has to experience a tree strike, but if it happens, we’re here as a resource. Whether it's an inspection, assessment, or repair guidance, please reach out. Even if you don’t need design work, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.

From tree strikes, fire loss to water damage and beyond, Dibble has extensive experience solving unexpected structural challenges. Learn more in our Unforeseen Project Solutions profile:https://www.dibbleengineers.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/DEI-Unforeseen-Project-Solutions.pdf

Project Spotlight: Garden Cabana in Medina

Dibble Engineer is proud to showcase our structural engineering expertise on the stunning Garden Cabana project in Medina! This project faced significant challenges, including poor soil conditions, an existing retaining wall leaning a few inches over the property line, and the new wall was in close proximity to the property line. To overcome these, we designed the cabana to be supported on concrete grade beams supported by pin piles, and we stabilized the leaning retaining wall with a new interior retaining wall and pin piles for a robust, compliant solution.

Despite permitting hurdles that delayed initial progress, the heavy timber structure came together beautifully once delivered to the site.

Current Progress:
- Installing pilings for the property line retaining wall
- Applying elegant stone veneer to enhance the cabana’s aesthetic
- Finalizing site wall and step formwork (likely poured by now!)

These steps are being carefully coordinated with large-format landscape boulders, expertly placed by the garden designer to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

A big thank you to our partners for bringing us on board to help bring this project to life: General Contractor: Eide Construction and Keating Architects & Interiors

We’re thrilled to tackle complex challenges and deliver structural solutions that elevate design. Way to go, Team Blue!

Lunch & Learn at Dibble: Shaping the Future of Structural Engineering with AI & Technology!

Today’s Lunch & Learn session, proudly organized by the AI & Tech Committee at Dibble, brought our team together to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the way we design and build.

A special thank you to Genia Design for showcasing their cutting-edge software and giving us a glimpse into the future of structural engineering powered by AI (Thank you Zhihao Zhao Robin Lin). From automating design processes to enhancing collaboration and optimizing structures, it’s exciting to see what’s possible.

We also dove into how Python can serve as a powerful tool for streamlining hand calculations and improving efficiency in our daily workflows. These insights are helping us bridge the gap between traditional engineering methods and modern technological solutions.

At Dibble, we’re committed to continuous learning and empowering our team with the latest knowledge to stay ahead in the industry.

🚧 We’re excited to see steel going up at the Little Creek Casino Resort – Administration Expansion in Shelton, WA! This five-story, 24,500-square-foot addition will support the Squaxin Island Tribe with new administrative offices, conference rooms, and security space — all designed with respect for the cultural significance of the site.

🏗️ The structure sits on 110-foot-deep, 24” diameter augercast piles with a structural slab-on-grade and steel framing throughout. We’re using Simpson Strong-Tie Yield-Link braced frame connections 🔩 — eliminating field welding and helping the frame go up fast. One unique feature of the building is an elevator designed to remain operational during a fire 🔥 — a complex but critical element.

🤝 It’s been a rewarding project alongside FREIHEIT Architecture and Korsmo Construction, and we’re proud of the work our team at hashtag has done to help bring this vision to life.
