Associated Earth Sciences, Inc.

Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. We were founded in 1981 by the late geologist Lou Lepp. Our staff is our company.

(AESI) is a multi-disciplinary, professional geotechnical engineering, hydrogeological, geological, and environmental consulting firm. Lou’s vision was to integrate or associate the sciences of geology, hydrogeology and the environment with the form and structure of geotechnical engineering. He felt that by understanding how the sciences of the earth and water were intertwined with the systematic

problem solving approach of engineering, he could provide his clients with a more complete understanding of their project. We have expanded past the Kirkland corporate head quarters to open offices in Everett and Tacoma. We feel that we have successfully integrated the science of the earth with the form of engineering. We have selectively added experience and expertise to our staff to further the integration of the earth science and engineering. We are proud of who we are and what we have accomplished. We feel that success has a solid foundation in good communication, planning and staff training. Our services include a wide variety of project and client types. We are fortunate to have many return clients which we feel is a reflection of good engineering and good service. The relationships we have forged go beyond the project meeting table. Although we have a broad, well founded practice of geotechnical, hydrogeolgic and environment consulting engineering, we are particularly strong in several specialized disciplines of site investigation, evaluation and design. AESI’s current staff of 45 includes geotechnical engineers, geologists, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, construction inspectors, and environmental specialists who are supported by a complete technical and regulatory library and geotechnical laboratory.

In honor of Lou, every year we nominate a member of our staff for outstanding contribution to AESI's success.

It is our pleasure to award Matthew Porter the 2022 Lou Lepp Employee Excellence award. Matthew joined AESI as an intern in 2017 and as a full-time part of the hydrogeology group in 2018 and continues to show a big appreciation and enjoyment of Puget Sound geology.
Not too long after joining AESI, Matthew stepped up to join the board of Northwest Geological Society, most recently serving as President. It was Matthew’s work over the past couple of years to better understand the geology and groundwater of Pierce County and southeast King County that really stood out, through field reconnaissance, document research and hydrogeologic mapping and modeling. Matthew’s efforts are very much appreciated, and we are lucky to have him as part of the AESI team.

Congratulations Matthew!!

Helping out the local Whatcom County Community and the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition by providing consulting services for a much needed parking lot expansion at Galbraith Mountain trailhead.

Our Executive Director EB had a great morning meeting at the parking lot with Shane from RAM, Jon from Associated Earth Sciences and Josh from the COB Parks. They met to assess subgrade and determine work flow for the next week! We can't emphasize enough what an all-star team we've assembled on this...

AESI continues to monitor developments with COVID-19.

AESI closely follows the recommendations made by our state and county health departments. We are also monitoring and following guidance from the CDC (Center for Disease Control). Prevention of COVID-19 is our priority.

Most of our staff is working from home. Our offices remain open but with very limited staff. We are using best practices for cleaning and disinfecting our office by referring to the CDC guidelines and our janitorial team has increased cleaning procedures.

All our meetings, internally and externally, are being done through Microsoft Teams. For our clients that do not have web meeting or collaboration services availability, AESI would be happy to initiate those meetings through our Teams services.

We are taking the health of our employees, clients, and project team members seriously and are continually communicating expectations of personal responsibility through the guidelines outlined by the CDC and the Washington State Department of Health.

Our responsiveness to our clients is still our priority and we are working on integrating best practices for our field staff while on a job site. With the social distancing, limited touch of same surfaces and individual responsibilities, we feel that it is safe to conduct field work and we will continue to monitor the situation for changing guidelines.

We are doing our best to continue to meet the expectations of our clients and continue to be responsive to your project needs.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your AESI project manager, or any of our Principals.

Thank you for your continued trust in these uncertain times.

Sincerely,

Bruce Blyton
President AESI
