The Sailor's Siren

The Sailor's Siren just a regular guy building cars and trucks the way i think they should be built.

Doing the best i can with what i have, learning as i go and pushing myself to be better each time all while doing the same with my life as a Christian, father, and husband. The Sailor’s Siren is a small group of friends who come together to build and work on cool cars. We all work full time jobs and then some as everyone knows life can be hectic, so The Sailor’s Siren isn’t exactly your regular ru

n of the mill shop. We do what we can with what we got and take extreme levels of pride on everything that graces our little shop floors. If we don’t meet your caliber of work come check us out again in the future and see if we meet your expectations, as were always trying to better the shop and ourselves with every second that we invest.

Had these two knuckle heads and taught them the school of knuckle draggers way of chopping the top on an old model a body i was fortunate to get from a buddy of mine for a screaming deal.

I’ll be welding it all up and they should be with me and hopefully grab some videos of us as we do suspension floor pans and a frame build.

Stay tuned as we get this thing rolling and possibly even back in the wind again.

Hey I made two videos. Posted them over on YouTube. No this is not me bandwagoning and trying to be an “influencer” just posting videos of how I do a few things as I do them. I hope to have some over how I do some frames and how I do different things like floor pans, suspension, bracing, motor mount and pinion angles and what not. Be easy I’m not a videographer a personality or really even a builder lol 😂

The 29 has been rolling on with progress. The body had no structure. The wood had given up the ghost and gone with the wood that used to make up the roof and floor pan at the big round up in the sky. Built some body structure out of 1x1 tubbing and got it going back together piece by piece. This truck is meant to be fun and cheap not a slow pain staking project like some of the others. Then we dropped the old 6 shooter out of it and the locked up tr**ny and why the torch was still blowing we blew out the front and rear suspension. Then why we were already having miserable fun we decided to cut down plate and box the front half of the frame and install a flat model a crossmember and a dropped axle kit from speedway followed up with flat head style engine mounts and a tubular cross member. Then mounted the double barrel lake headers on the mock up engine and started deciding how low
Or high the engine needed to ride.
The cab ended up a few inches back for engine clearance and then we snagged up truck bed sides for a 1936 chopped a hair under 2 foot off them in length and made the cutting boards match it. The cab got a hair cut and came down a little. Then visor was punch and flared along with running boards as some rust
Repair was taken off the list early.
Then the rear fenders were repops and bolted up and on. Then I couldn’t get it quite low enough after the back half was redone with tubbing so I decided why not step notch it and have all the room for getting it down and low hung. Then I blended the tubbing
Into the rest
Of the frame with boxing plates that I bent into the frame. Still a lot of grinding dressing up and final welding.triangle 4 link and coil over outback ready to go In but not on it yet. Then the roof was manhandled out and spot welded to additional roof bracing
To get it alot more firmed up and solid. The wheel is for mock up and measurements and to see how low she ended up.

Just want to let y’all know I’m not dead, not yet. I had an injury and was able to crawl through some progress on things very slowly with a lot of good help and time. I had a rotator cuff injury and then my providing Dr for it retired while being seen and had to restart and just experience the beauty of so many things the medical field has to offer. Anyhow, surgery happened and now I’m down to tossing rocks at kids with one hand. Before that I was able to get the suspension rebuilt in the rear of the chevelle to match the front and got the suspension dropped and supported well with new springs since the old ones like my shoulder, had grown tired and gave up the ghost… then I got the quarters and inner wheel wells and trunk expansions along with trunk pan tail panels and even tree trunk it’s self replaced and going back on with the straight and narrow. I was also able to help my lovely sister in law with a project she trusted me with and I was able to show her just how much of a carpenter I ain’t. She was able to paint it and make it look pretty good in my opinion which isn’t worth much because I have too many and I voice them freely. Also I was able to pluck this beautiful little survivor 1929 Chevy truck and fired up the AI like every hoodlum has and tried my hand at getting it to give me a truck with a chopped roof and a dropped stance. And it only changed it and gave it a few more fingers so I’ll take it. Lastly I am learning how to drop axles or I was learning and by learning I mean winging it completely with half hazard approach. Well I’ll be back sometime next year when I’m able to toss rocks at neighboring kids that cross into my lawn. I have been blessed with surgery and a job that has allowed me to provide why I recover. And I am having a deeply blessed time being more connected to Christ and the community of church. I have also been able to spend so much time with my wife and work on our marriage and even the kids are benefitting! They learned some bad jokes and swear words. The youngest one is even learning how to fist fight! So I got protection!

Got a fire pit from recycling stones off a garden that we removed from the yard. Had my wife kids sister in law and brother help me since I got a bad wing. Blessed with family and a good friend who lets me borrow his tractor anytime.

Got a bigger tank for my 48 and got it colored in a lime line blue. First time shooting a heavy flake and clogged gun then had to shoot so many clear coats just to file it down lay a decal not know the 24 to 48 hour rule of waiting. It’s got its flaws but it’s good enough for me. Nice to get something done for myself. #

Got the model a buffed after some color sanding and then in between the carport and the shop the cart loosened up some bolts and dropped the nose down so need to do some repair work now but went ahead and set her on the frame to get frame sanded and buffed and maybe touched up as well if I keep doing dummy stuff.
