Had the opportunity to participate in "Meet the Candidates" night sponsored by Crandall Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night. I want to thank the Chamber for hosting this event and more importantly those that attended!
It was a great event where candidates running for Mayor, City Council and CISD School Board Trustees were allowed a little time to introduce themselves and take questions. The common theme across the board was how to handle growth in Crandall and the impact that it has on our community.
I just want to let everyone know a few of my priorities:
Students should have a safe (free of bullying, physical and mental violence) learning environment where each student has the same opportunity no matter what. Our schools should be a safe place for students.
Teachers- CISD should recruit and retain good qualified teachers. We also need to provide teachers a safe teaching environment free from fear of any violence against them, verbal or physical.
Fiscally Responsible with tax payers money. Ensure budget that is approved meets the needs of the district and the money is used responsibly.
Encourage parent/guardians involvement with not only the students teachers but the school and the school district.
Strategical Forecasting- Do the best with information that we have to forecast the needs of facilities, teachers, associated requirements (busses, drivers, additional personnel) for our exploding growth.
Thank you for the support and encouragement that I have received across the community.
Reminder early voting starts Monday.
