Tonight, we were awarded the #5 Best Place to Work in Kansas City among medium-sized companies by the Kansas City Business Journal!

The whole evening was about team spirit, and it got us thinking about what a normal week at ASI actually looks like.

It's walking into the break room at lunchtime on nacho day and finding half the office already there, swapping stories over chips and cheese. It's a pickleball game that somehow gets more competitive every week. A quick round of ping pong or putt putt to reset after a meeting. It's someone heading to the ice cream machine or soda fountain and ending up in a conversation that solves a problem you've been stuck on. And when you need a quiet minute to think, the zen room is right down the hall. And these are just some of the perks.

None of that happens by accident. It happens because the people here care about each other, cheer each other on, and like spending time together, at work and away from it.

Thank you to every teammate who makes ASI what it is, and to the Kansas City Business Journal for a great night celebrating workplaces across our city.

Rain couldn't dampen the spirit at our Oktoberfest!

It was rainy day last Friday after a full week of work, but our team and their families showed up, and the party went on. Oktoberfest is an annual tradition here at ASI, and this year was no exception. We had food trucks serving up great eats, live music that kept the energy high, a golf stimulator that provided a lot of friendly competition and a bounce house and games for the kids.

We believe our people are our greatest strength, and that includes the families who support them every day. Events like this are a chance to slow down, celebrate together, and make memories outside of the workday.

Thank you to everyone who came out, to the folks who planned and set up, and to our vendors for making it a great night.

Today, our team spent the day celebrating Health & Wellness Day, with activities running from morning to afternoon.

The morning kicked off with an ASI logoed water bottles at the Hydration Station and a food truck handing out custom Acai bowls to fuel up. From there, employees were able to book a chair massage break, a quiet Zen Room to unplug and check in with their mental health, or grab a wellness word search to unwind the mind. All throughout the day employees spent time doing their annual wellness screenings as well. The day wrapped with a healthy afternoon snack fresh veggie trays which was the perfect way to recharge before heading home.

Employees who completed these activities were registered for gift card drawings. The best part the entire day was at no cost to employees.

Wellness isn't just physical, it's mental too, and taking care of our people means showing up for both.

Wrapping up another great summer with our interns!

This year's group represented colleges across the area, pictured are Noah and Scott– Missouri University of Science and Technology, Camille – University of Missouri-Kansas City, Ava, Logan, Christopher and Luke – Kansas State University, Joseph and Hope – The University of Kansas.

The interns made the most of their time with us from jobsite visits and collaboration with jobsite teams, a Kansas City Royals game and a volunteer project with Habitat for Humanity. The summer wrapped up with end-of-summer presentations, where each intern shared what they learned and the projects they contributed to.

We're grateful for the energy and fresh perspective they brought to our teams across the organization, and proud of everything they accomplished.

As they head back to campus this week, we wish them all the best on the school year ahead!

A great moment seeing this one hit the news.

General Motors Fairfax Assembly plant here in Kansas City arranged 350 Chevy Bolts into a giant American flag and USA display.

We don't build the actual vehicles at Fairfax, but watching the video, we recognized plenty in the background which are the conveyors and carriers our team designed and built that assist in day to day operations at the plant. There's something genuinely satisfying about seeing the place where our work lives, even when we're not the ones in the spotlight.

We're proud to recognize our Chairman, Bob Hoehn, and his wife Judy on a remarkable milestone, 60 years of marriage.

For six decades, Bob and Judy have built a life together grounded in commitment, partnership, and shared values. The same qualities have also shaped the foundation of ASI.

When Bob acquired ASI in 1981, he did so with a vision to build a company rooted in integrity and a commitment to doing things the right way. ASI remains family owned, and Bob continues to serve as our Chairman, a leader whose influence is felt throughout everything we do. The culture Bob built is what sets ASI apart.

Congratulations to Bob and Judy on 60 wonderful years together!

This week, two teams volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Over two days, we framed the home’s interior and porch and installed siding. Our groups were made up mostly of engineers and this year’s interns which gave all of us an opportunity to get to know people we might not work with everyday.

Our interns showed they’re not only here to learn the technical side of ASI they’re also ready to roll up their sleeves and serve the community.

A huge thank you to Habitat for Humanity for hosting us this week!

We had an incredible time at the 75th Annual Greater Kansas City Science Fair at Union Station Kansas City. As first-time supporters our team had the honor of serving as judges and presenting 3 Special Awards for Innovation in Mechanical Engineering. Watching the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers showcase their ideas was nothing short of inspiring.

The creativity, dedication, and passion these students brought to their projects reminded us exactly why we do what we do and we believe the future of engineering is in great hands.

A huge congratulations to all of the participants, and a heartfelt thank you to the organizers Emily Meyers and Keity Lane for putting on such a fantastic event. And Hilary Fuller for getting awesome photos of the ASI team in action. We can't wait to be back next year.

This past week we hosted our 11th Annual Safety Symposium. Each year, this event brings together field superintendents, safety representatives, project managers, controls engineers, and leaders from across the U.S. and Mexico for a full day of training, collaboration, and honest conversations about how continue to keep our people not just talking about safety culture but demonstrating it on the jobsites as well.

This year’s setting made it even more memorable. Hosting the symposium at Kauffman Stadium the home of the Kansas City Royals as the backdrop was something special. Seeing the Automatic System's logo displayed at that scale, the largest it’s ever been, was a proud moment. Not because of the size of the sign, but because of what it represents not only the growth of our company but the continued commitment to doing the job the right way.
