REMINDER- THE DNR IS STARTING TO SWITCH OVER THEIR LICENSE SYSTEM TODAY SO YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO BUY A LICENSE UNTIL JUNE 9TH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AS WE WORK WITH THEM TO GET SETUP WITH THEIR NEW SYSTEM. WE WILL BE ABLE TO SELL LICENSES AGAIN AT OUR LOCATION STARTING JUNE 9TH.
That being said, if you ever wanted to try fishing, but didn't want to spend the money on a fishing license, now is the perfect time to head out and give fishing a try-as you don't need a license to fish until June 9th.
From the DNR-
Dear license agents,
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is excited to share that the launch of our new electronic licensing system for hunting and fishing licenses is coming soon. As the transition to the new system approaches, we would like to make agents and customers aware of a couple important updates related to the cutover period — the transition from the current system to the new one:
The existing licensing system will be in use until 11:59 p.m. Monday, June 1, and after that time it will no longer be operational.
No licenses will be sold June 2-8, 2026. Licenses will not be available for purchase by any method — in person, online or by phone.
During this period, people may fish without a license in Minnesota. All regulations for seasons and bag limits remain in effect.
Anglers must have a current license on June 9, 2026, to continue fishing.
Licenses purchased in the old system prior to June 2, 2026, will remain valid.
The DNR will also be communicating these cutover period details to the public via email, social media and the DNR website.
