🚨 Michigan gun owners: the feds stopped enforcing NFA registration. Michigan hasn't caught up. 🚨
Here's what happened:
✅ August 5, 2026: A federal judge in Texas ruled that NFA registration for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs is unconstitutional. Congress dropped the $200 tax stamp to $0, and the court said no tax means no constitutional basis for the registration.
✅ October 9, 2026: ATF announced it will no longer require federal approval to make or transfer these items. That applies nationwide, not just to the people in the lawsuit.
❌ The problem: Michigan law still bans suppressors and short-barreled ri**es and sh****ns outright. The only exception is for items that are federally registered or approved. Without that federal paperwork, it's still a state felony with up to 5 years in prison.
So the federal government has stepped back, but Michigan law is still tied to a system that doesn't apply anymore. That's why Fi****ms Policy Coalition sent letters to the attorneys general of 15 states, Michigan included, asking them to stop enforcing these laws and repeal them.
There's already a fix on the table. HB 6285 and HB 6284 would remove Michigan's suppressor and SBR/SBS felonies completely. They were introduced August 27 and sent to the House Judiciary Committee. Since then, nothing has happened.

Call your State Representative and State Senator. Ask them where they stand on HB 6285 and HB 6284, and why the bills are still stuck in committee. Contact the Attorney General's office too.
Don't accept "we'll look at it after the election." Your legislators are being paid to do this job right now. If an employee told you they'd do their job "next year," you wouldn't accept it. Hold your representatives to the same standard.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Don't put yourself at risk. Until Michigan law changes, do not make or buy a suppressor or SBR here without completing the federal paperwork.
