Solar racking is the lowest-cost line item on most DG projects.
It is also one of the most common reasons a project stalls.
Long lead times, imported components, slow engineering turnarounds, and missing parts on a remote job site. These are not edge cases. They are standard complaints across the DG solar market, and they all trace back to how racking suppliers are structured.
Kyle Sinclair, Co-founder and CEO of (SDE) Sinclair Designs & Engineering, came on the Clean Power Hour to explain why the structure is the problem and what a vertically integrated alternative looks like in practice.
SDE manufactures every component in-house from USA Prime Steel. They turn around commercial stamped drawings in 4 days. They hold a 95% delivery accuracy rating. And they produce 3 megawatts of ground-mount racking in a single 8-hour shift.
That combination exists because SDE built the engineering and manufacturing under one roof instead of subcontracting either one.
If your team has felt the pain of racking delays on a live project, this episode is worth 40 minutes of your time.
