Please read this Weather Alert….

According to the National Weather Service, Potential Tropical Cyclone One is forecast to become Tropical Storm Arthur tomorrow (Wednesday, June 17, 2026) and make landfall tomorrow night near the Texas-Louisiana border. Daily rounds of storms could produce areas of potentially significant flash flooding, especially where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same locations. A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday morning.

In preparation for this weather, Jefferson Parish officials are asking residents to prepare and remain weather aware. During heavy rain, drivers should use caution around areas prone to significant street flooding, like streets under bridges and overpasses. Parish Ordinance Section 36-188 prohibits motorists from traveling on flooded streets, which may increase the possibility of structural flooding due to wake action caused by moving vehicles.

To help reduce the risk of street flooding, Jefferson Parish Public Works crews have been cleaning catch basis; residents are asked to clear debris from streets and drains around their property, as such debris impedes water flow into the drainage system. In Jefferson Parish, 196 out of 198 pumps are in service, and portable pumps are ready, if required. All pump stations will be manned throughout the duration of this event.

Residents are asked to secure loose objects outside, as these often-become dangerous flying debris in high winds. Stay indoors and away from windows during severe weather events. In the event of a tornado, shelter in an interior room on the ground floor.

Residents in need of assistance can contact the Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center at (504) 349-5360.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant, stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts (TV, radio, etc.) and make sure to charge mobile devices and keep them nearby. Kirby Morgan® now offers stainless steel helmets with colored Cerakote® finishes. The coating will be applied to the outside of the Shell and Pod ONLY, leaving the bottom ring area in its original finish as shown in the above picture.

The Cerakote® coating provides a cosmetic finish without affecting the performance of the stainless steel helmet. Colored Cerakote® stainless steel helmets are available in yellow, black, orange, green, purple, red, smoke, charcoal, blue, burgundy, and white. This is considered a cosmetic finish and is not covered by warranty.
