This morning at approximately 8:30 am ROCKWOOL personnel detected a small fire in ductwork in the production area of our Ranson facility. ROCKWOOL’s standard emergency procedures were initiated and area fire departments responded to the scene.
While the fire was quickly extinguished by ROCKWOOL’s integrated sprinkler system, the facility was briefly evacuated out of an abundance of caution. There were no injuries or structural damage to the facility and following completion of cleanup, production is planned to resume later today.
Emergency responders provided an all-clear and all units had departed the scene by approximately 10:27 am. Thank you to our area firefighters for their quick response and assistance.
A post-incident review is underway to confirm the cause and to identify action items to help prevent reoccurrence.
