In the Pioneer Agronomy Update, Pioneer Seeds Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen reminds growers to apply their pre-emergence herbicides in soybeans. “Weeds such as waterhemp and kochia continue to challenge us in the post-herbicide applications, and it is essential that growers take the time to apply pre-emerge herbicides to help eliminate weeds when they are at their weakest.” In another tip, Sundeen said early-planted canola is emerging. “Check your fields. Flea beetles can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time.”

We go out on CropWatch every Tuesday to get an update from the field on how the season is progressing. This week we visited with Brent Kohls in the Clifford, ND area and Carl and the folks at Peterson Farm Seeds in Prosper, ND!

A great opportunity to connect with the Peterson crew for our Crop Watch broadcast.

In the Pioneer Agronomy Update, Pioneer Seeds Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen said this week’s weather will jump start the crop into summer. “Most of the corn has been planted, with some expected to finish this week. GDU accumulation has been slow with the cooler temperatures in May. Early planted corn is just starting to emerge. In northeast and north central North Dakota with a planting date of May 4th, GDUs range from 95 to 125." https://www.rrfn.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/052226-Pioneer-Agronomy-Minute-Sundeen.mp3
