Brad is one of those bosses who makes everyone around him better at what they do. He’s an excellent communicator, an incredible support system, and the guy who will jump in and help you figure out how to get something done instead of just telling you to get it done.

Meet Axel. 🦩

Some of you might remember this guy.

Back in the early 1990s, Rob Smith built Axel from old auto parts. He even made the local newspaper. For years, he stood proudly by our front door, greeting customers and giving countless kids a reason to stop, smile, and climb aboard for a picture.

Time, weather, and thousands of little adventures eventually caught up with him. His legs rusted away, and Axel was retired.

But some things are worth saving.

Malcolm, our lead inside dismantler, couldn’t bear to see Axel disappear. He rebuilt him from the ground up, giving him a second life. Then his daughter, Marley, put the finishing touches on him with a fresh coat of paint. The result? Axel is back and looking better than ever.

And if you look closely, you’ll see he’s still made from the same kind of parts that built Smith Auto:
🚗 Body: 9” Ford rear end
🔧 Head: axle covers
⚙️ Legs: driveshafts
🍃 Feet & tail feathers: leaf springs
👀 Eyes: spider gears

Around here, we don’t just recycle parts. Sometimes we recycle memories.
