🚧 Blue Earth Avenue Update 🚧
June 11, 2026

The Frontier/Verizon fiber optic installation project is temporarily complete, and traffic on Blue Earth Avenue has returned to normal with all lanes open.

Crews are expected to return in approximately two weeks to finalize the project. We will provide additional updates if any future traffic impacts are anticipated.

🌿 Curious about the Curly-Leaf Pondweed Harvesting Project?

During the June 8, 2026, Fairmont City Council meeting, Premier Lake Harvesting LLC provided an update on Phase 1 of the harvesting efforts on Amber, Sisseton, and Budd Lakes.

Attached is the presentation for anyone interested in reviewing project results, harvesting areas, and vegetation removal totals.

If you’ve been clearing out curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) along your shoreline, don’t forget that the City of Fairmont offers free CLP pickup service. Simply bag your CLP and sign up for pickup. Both curbside and dockside pickup options are available.

🚧 Traffic Alert – Blue Earth Avenue 🚧
June 3 - approximately June 17, 2026

Frontier/Verizon will be closing the (right) westbound lane of Blue Earth Avenue beginning today to install fiber optic infrastructure. Work is anticipate to take 1-2 weeks to complete, Minnesota weather pending.

Please use caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for workers and equipment.
