PHILOSOPHY
Battle Associates Architects is dedicated to design and client service, balancing our commitment to unique design with our commitment to accommodating each client’s lifestyle and needs. Our designs grow from a specific sense of place. Organizing each project to celebrate the strengths of its site, ranging from sun exposure, to views, to water’s edge, we develop our architecture to capit

alize on these assets, while creating inside spaces that are comfortable yet exceptional experiences for our clients. We consider ourselves to be problem-solvers, reconciling the constraints of lifestyle, budget and site, while staying true to our design philosophy. Our client service reflects our commitment to give each client particular attention. We are committed to listen and to respond, throughout the design process, and beyond. EXPERIENCE
In our twenty-five years of history, we have designed over one hundred projects throughout New England, the Adirondacks, the Mid Atlantic, the Florida Keys and Canada. Principal John Battle, AIA is a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Boston Society of Architects. His designs have been widely published in numerous magazines and periodicals.

Designed for two clients with distinct creative lives—she an artist, he a musician. The result is a composition of three distinct volumes, each with its own identity. The “Red Barn” houses the music studio along with garage, guest, and children’s spaces. The “Industrial” volume is dedicated to the art studio. At the center, the “Middle” volume serves as the heart of daily living. Materials, forms, and color reinforce the individuality of each structure, while their placement frames views of a man-made pond and a preserved locus tree.
A home shaped by creativity, where architecture reflects the lives within it.

Wolfeboro NH Residence - Timber frame elements bring warmth and architectural presence to this light-filled home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Set against a clean white interior palette, the structure itself becomes part of the design story—grounded, refined, and intentional.
The central living space unfolds as an open plan, where the living room flows seamlessly into the kitchen and a custom built-in banquette—designed for everyday living and effortless entertaining.
Just beyond, a screened porch extends directly from the living room, thoughtfully oriented to capture evening sunsets. Expansive sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out, strengthening the home’s connection to its natural surroundings and bringing the landscape into daily life.
A home where structure, light, and setting work in harmony.

Concord Center for the Visual Arts | Concord, MA A thoughtful expansion designed to honor history while supporting creativity. The project replaces the former Coleman Gallery with a new “Art Barn”—two generous classrooms that open into a single, flexible space for exhibitions and special events. Clad in gray vertical siding with dark trim, the exterior introduces a modern counterpoint to the original 1921 building, while a glass rear wall and expansive skylight flood the space with natural light. Additional improvements include an expanded ADA-compliant entrance, a new kitchen, and enhanced executive offices with second-floor dormers.
