Forty years ago, Talan Products set out with a simple goal: build quality products, take care of customers, and create opportunities for great people.

Today, we're honored to share that we've once again been recognized by the ICIC Inner City 100 program, earning this distinction for the eighth time and joining the organization's Hall of Fame.

Awards are wonderful, but they aren't the reason we come to work every day.

This recognition belongs to every member of our team who shows up ready to solve problems, every customer who has trusted us with their business, every supplier who helps us succeed, and the Cleveland community we've proudly called home for more than 20 years.

As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we're reminded that manufacturing is about much more than making parts. It's about creating careers, supporting families, strengthening communities, and building products that keep industries moving across North America.

To celebrate this milestone, we've created a short documentary-style video sharing the story of Talan Products, our Cleveland roots, and the people who make it all possible.

Listening to an NPR story about AI the other day, someone referenced a line from Westworld about evolution... and becoming obsolete.
That idea stayed with me.

Manufacturing doesn't hand out participation trophies. Companies that stop evolving eventually become history. Over the years, we've watched competitors—and yes, even friends in our industry—close their doors. Not because they lacked talent or determination, but because markets change. Customers change. Technology changes. Standing still simply isn't an option.

Earlier this year, Talan Products was honored with the Evolution of Manufacturing Award from the Smart Business Network. Standing in front of our wall of awards, watching Steve Peplin hold that newest addition, I couldn't help but think that none of those awards exist because we figured everything out years ago. They exist because we've never stopped learning, adapting, investing, and improving.

For 40 years, we've embraced new manufacturing technologies, new processes, new markets, and new ways to serve our customers. Evolution isn't a project you complete—it's a mindset you choose every single day.

As I cross 60 myself, I find that lesson applies just as much to me. AI has become part of my daily routine, not because it's the latest trend, but because I never want to stop learning. The day we stop evolving is the day we start becoming obsolete.

Fortunately, that's never really been who we are.

Here's to the next evolution.
