Before our 12 trades, 1,000 employees, countless valued customers, and three locations, there was one man in a single room pipe shop on the Northern Minnesota Iron Range. The year was 1905 and Joseph Egan was ready to put his dreams into motion. While his new business thrived, the country and the world continued to be unsettled. Change was coming, war was on the horizon, building materials were short, and enlisting was the expectation. The small business would eventually have to wait. After ebbing and flowing for decades between serving our country and raising a family, the dream of running a business full-time was restored. And in 1945, with $3,000, Joseph and his sons Bill and Costney (eventually, younger brother Jerry as well) opened their doors in the Twin Cities – Egan and Sons Plumbing and Heating Company was officially founded. Craftsmen and innovators by nature, the vision of our founders is still very much a part of today: to deliver high-quality craftsmanship and innovative solutions while upholding the promises we make to our customers. This framework has helped us grow, kept us safe, and has played a fundamental role in the tens of thousands of projects we’ve touched in our community, across Minnesota, North Carolina, and beyond. We are always looking for talented people to join our family-oriented workplace. Our hybrid office model provides unmatched flexibility for our team and positions us uniquely in the industry. Whether you’re a thinker, crafter, innovator, or all the above, we want motivated individuals on our team to continue making Egan an exceptional, diverse project partner.

Across 280,000+ square feet, Egan provided virtual design expertise, installed the plumbing, HVAC, hydronic heating system, and two booster pumps for the nine-story tower, and programmed the building automation controls that tie everything together behind the scenes!

Any guesses where Egan’s mini truck is this week? 🛻🏢

Here’s a hint: when built, this 1,200,000-square-foot dual office complex marked the largest single office project in Downtown Minneapolis since 1992.

Egan was the Design/Build partner for this project’s intelligent building (IB) network, engineering, and installing all services to meet banking-grade standards. Thousands of data points feed into one system, giving the building LEED Platinum efficiency. Last hint, it has a great view of the U.S. Bank Stadium.

Drop your guess in the comments, and we’ll let you know tomorrow!
