Over 400 4th–6th grade students filled Father Sheehan Park in Butte, MT, for this year’s Stormwater Fest — a day full of hands-on learning, from bull trout migration games to water acidity testing, all focused on understanding our local stormwater system and the role we play in protecting it. 🐟💦

A HUGE thank you to WET's own Christina Eggensperger, Tim Driscoll, Rial Gunlikson, Zach Heffernan, Cora Anne Langel-Person, Dylan Livingston, Kim Snodgrass, Ryan Bossard, Megan Terry, and Stephen Coe for showing up, engaging students, and helping make environmental education fun, memorable, and impactful. 🦸‍♀️🦸

We also want to recognize all the amazing partner organizations—especially Ripple: The Center for Education and Ecosystem Studies—for helping to lead the effort and for creating such a meaningful experience for our community. 👩‍🏫

Because of all of you, hundreds of students walked away with a better understanding of how stormwater connects to their everyday lives — and how they can help protect it. 👦💡👩

At the Montana Infrastructure Coalition Infrastructure Summit May 20–21 in Billings, Christina Eggensperger, P.E., MS and Alexis Leffler Jensen will take attendees behind the scenes of the American Society of Civil Engineers Infrastructure Report Card.

This session breaks down how infrastructure grades are determined including condition, capacity, funding, and resilience and what that means for Montana. Attendees will gain insight into the methodology behind the scores and how the Report Card can help guide investment priorities and long-term planning across the state.

Last week, our planners from WAYpoint at WET (Megan Terry & Stephen Coe) attended the American Planning Association's National Planning Conference in Detroit, where they spoke on “Collaborative Planning with Tribal Nations.” These large conferences are always a great opportunity to visit with other professionals across the nation, review cool new technologies and programs, and take lessons learned back to our own communities. They're looking forward to the next planning conference this fall at the Montana Association of Planners (MAP)!
