Is a 100-ton press brake enough for your production?
The answer is: it depends. Here’s what it depends on:
Choosing the wrong press brake tonnage can lead to two costly scenarios:
❌ a machine that is too weak – risk of overload, faster tool wear, repeatability issues, and even damage to the press,
❌ a machine that is too large – unnecessarily higher investment costs, greater energy consumption, and capabilities that exceed the real needs of your facility.
Other important factors include:
🔹 material grade and tensile strength,
🔹 bending length,
🔹 die opening width,
🔹 bending method,
🔹 required bend radius and part geometry,
🔹 permissible load of the tooling and press beam.
What’s more, simply changing the die can significantly reduce the required bending force – but at the same time it can change the bend radius, minimum fl**ge length, and flat pattern of the part.
