Sheet Metal Specialties, Inc had the privilege to be part of the dedication ceremony of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird replica honoring Major General Eldon Joersz and his achievement at becoming the fastest man in the world. Maj. Gen. Joersz along with LTC George Morgan, JR. set the FAI Absolute World Record for Speed at 2,193.167 mph (Mach 3.3) on July 28, 1976. We were also able to recognize his distinguished military career in the U. S. Air Force from 1966 - 1997 with a special flag from us as well. Want to thank the Hazen Chamber of Commerce/CVB for the opportunity to be part of this amazing project. I want to specifically recognize the two Bismarck businesses that were instrumental in bringing our metal plane to life. The bomber black powder coat finish was done by Trevor & Leon at HP Coating's & Fabrication's while the decals were completed by Matt & Rick Signs & Wonders, Inc. Signs & Wonders was also responsible for the amazing afterburner effect in the engines. If you get a chance to see it at night, they glow!!
