Hard to believe these two kids are now all grown up, with one managing an entire company worth of inventory, and the other that knows more about our concentrators than the manufacturer that makes them. They both say “ok tell me what the machine is doing now” about 10 times a day! Guess who is Lonnie and who is Brock!

We’re just big kids taking care of little kids. These former dress up champions are now responsible for maintaining your ventilators, trachs, oxygen, and clinical questions. From trophies, and wearing everything in your closet at once, to saying “the vent is fine” 14 times a shift. Healthcare is wild.

Loving and caring for a medically complex child is beautiful.

It’s raw.

It’s exhausting.

It’s 24/7 care with no breaks, no days off, no pause button.

Most of us didn’t come into this with a medical background.

Yet here we are—learning medical terminology that once meant nothing to us, mastering skills we never imagined we’d need, and being trusted with life-saving interventions.

Especially as a trach mom to a ventilator-dependent child, the weight of that responsibility is immense.

This medically complex parenting world isn’t one we chose, but it’s one we show up for—every single day.

We do it with shaking hands at first, then with confidence built through sleepless nights, emergencies, alarms, and instincts sharpened by love.

Because our children’s lives depend on our skilled hands and fast thinking.

And we rise—every time.

Loving a child with a limited timeline is heartbreaking beyond words.

It humbles you.

It cracks you open.

And somehow, it inspires you in ways nothing else ever could.

In just 11 years, my Sara has taught me more about life, strength, resilience, and unconditional love than I’ve learned in an entire lifetime.

She is my strength.

My sassy, stubborn warrior.

My greatest teacher.

And I would walk this journey a million times over.

I would carry every monitor, every diagnosis, every hard moment—with pride.

Because loving her is the greatest honor of my life.

To the parents walking a similar path:

I see you.

Your exhaustion.

Your courage.

Your fierce love.

You are doing impossible things with unwavering devotion.

And that… is extraordinary. 🤍
